My husband and I wished to experience Scotland as active independent travelers - not just tourists. We wanted a guide 'extraordinaire' and not just a driver. Working with Alastair of Go Highlands we planned a trip that started in Edinburgh, moved clockwise to Isle of Skye (Portree), the northern highlands (Kylesku), then to Inverness, and finished with a night's stay in a stunning castle in Pitlochery. Aside from visiting amazing attractions along our journey we golfed in 3 different locations, did some amazing hillwalking and exploring, and went e-biking in the hills above Loch Ness. We stayed in amazing hotels in Edinburgh and Inverness, glamped in the Isle of Skye, and spent our last night in a stunning castle.Alastair listened carefully to what we envisioned for our trip and his flexibility and attention to every detail put us at ease immediately. He had a masterful knowledge of the country, of each of the fascinating places we went, and Scotland's incredible history. Added to that were his recommendations for accommodations, restaurants, great shopping spots, distilleries & pubs - all making the planning of this almost 2 week trip above and beyond enjoyable and exciting. Our trip far exceeded what we had hoped for and imagined when we started planning. We had a wonderful day trip with George. He was very kind and explained everything. We had enough time to explore all the places he showed us. He also gave us a lot of good tips where to eat und what we could do. Really enjoyed the day with him.

Our full day tour to ride the Jacobite steam train was canceled 24 hours before heading to Inverness. We had a full day in Inverness with no plan. Thankfully we were able to book with Go Highland Tours and incredibly lucky to have George as our guide. His knowledge of the Scottish Highlands, Outlander, Whisky and Inverness (to name a few highlights) was in-depth and fascinating. Highly recommend! Thank you George!
