Ysgol Aberconwy

I went to this school many years ago.Things may have improved since then but I'm giving my experience from when I was there. Some of the teachers were brilliant but some were terrible. I was in low sets for most subjects and wasn't encouraged to do better. I ended up doing well at University and flourished. I always remember the changing rooms whereby someone had rubbed out the C so it looked like hanging rooms. This remained like this for years and for an 11 year old on the first day at school this was terrifying. The Welsh teacher always used to go nuts when anyone criticised the Welsh language. My parents had to complain when I was pushed by one of the teachers but back in 1986 the late headmaster didn't do much about it. I always say to my mum one thing I wish I could change about the past is that I wished I had gone to John Brights. Things were ace at Deganwy School, Llandrillo College and Stafford University. I played badminton for Wales and was called a fairy badminton player by one of the teachers. I wanted to give my experience because my experience here was an unhappy one.

They have a weight lifting after school activity that strictly only boys can do. Which in my opinion is completely sexist and old fashioned. So many women inspirations on social media are fitness models advising girls to exercise and eat healthy and this school is doing the opposite suggesting girls should not appear athletic and should stick to soft ball games. Disgusting
