I have used the garage numerous times. This time I didn’t have an appointment booked. I ended up getting a puncture on Sunday evening at the corner of Wilson Street leading onto Needless Road and only just managed to get my car to Alastair Reid before I couldn’t drive my car any further.Next morning and even without an appointment, they willingly changed my tyre and fixed another issue I was aware of with another tyre I had. I was impressed by their kindness at fixing my car on the day and the efficiency in which they did it. Quality service done at a reasonable price. A very reliable garage and I would recommend to anyone.

Booked the car in over a week ago was promised it would get looked at 8am over the phone, so arrived sharply and then I got moaned at about having unfair expectations due to car being stuck on ramp from day before. Then when it came to diagnosing the issue, they never tested it properly. I advised it only happens with blower on and pollen filter in. I got the car back with them advising they were testing it with out the pollen filter and could not say what was wrong for definite. They wanted the car for another few days for them to try and diagnose. How about testing it, in the same conditions as I said the issue happens. Disappointing service then they were trying to tell me the head gasket MAY be away when serval other garages have said no its not. Wasted day, again would of helped a lot if you listened to the customer

The staff let me drop my car off the evening before as I wouldn't be able to make the 8am appointment.I paid what I expected to pay, and the service was fast.However, I noticed a few nails/screws around the carpark, so would be good to have them cleared up.Thanks

I only dealt with this business once as I just felt the chap on the counter (Derek) I think was his name gave us a load of waffle, I am a retired engineer and his technical explanation literally made no sense whatsoever. I would not rule this place out however on the basis of one staff members failings.

I am absolutely horrified at the service I have received from Alistair Reid garages, I have been to them several times with sufficient service from them in the past year however on this occasion they have really let them self's down and me down. They have taken very little care of my car and treated it like it just didn't matter. I am in fact receiving my car back in a much worse state than I left her in.Firstly i prebooked the car in nearly 3 weeks in advance for them not to even bother looking at her for over a week despite being lied to twice that week that they would the very next day however this wasn't a huge deal to me as I understand how busy this sort of business can be its the way in which they have looked after my car in there care which i feel is totally unacceptable.I left my car in the care of them being assured she would be left covered as she is from 1989 and has a canvas roof which could be prone to leaking, they lied to me and assured me this would be the case as they clearly have plenty of room to store this car out the weather which is why I choose this place. however they then left her out in the Scottish winter exposed to inches of snow left to melt through the canvas roof for days which has caused quite significant water ingress into the car and I also belive this has now affected the electrics.They posted a photo on there Facebook page when it was snowing with my car completely coverd in snow thus shooting themselves in the foot providing me with the evidence of just how little effort they have put into looking after my ageing classic.This really is just unacceptable customer service.I will never be back, I have provided them with other customers over the last year which obviously will no longer be the case, I would not recommend to anyone going forward, This has to be the worst experience I have ever had dealing with car garages.I have a collection of 6 vintage cars so provide plenty of custom over the year which of course they will no longer get.Shame on you!

Positive experience at Andrew Reid.Diagnostic work carried out the same day with Ian staying on late to complete this for me.AR facilitated my vehicle being transferred to a transmission specialist. Professional and efficient service. Thank you

I brought my wife’s car to get it checked for a transmission oil leak. Stuart’s attitude was so bad, dismissive and disrespectful, made me feel worthless to be honest. My problem was that i could not drive the car long distances at its condition and therefore my options were limited. I asked specifically if there will be a cost for the service and Stuart said no. Following few days delay got a call for the cost which was a lot so I spoke to my wife and said will need to think about it. On arrival to pick up the car i was faced with £20 bill!! I explained the above to another guy who was there and his answer was “ Stuart will not say that” I said then I am lying I suppose, I paid and left. Few days later i called the owner. He said he would not dispute Stewart’ attitude but mechanically he is very good. Mr Reid also repeated that I must have been told of the cost beforehand.Eventually got the car repaired somewhere else and the cost was not that different from the quote they gave me but the attitude, dishonesty and accusations directed to me is really upsetting. Need to note my wife was not willing to bring the car herself due to previous uneasy experience. Mr Reid I can add the invoice number so do not please post this is fake review.

I would not recommend this service to anyone.The man has a shocking attitude with customers, making me feel nothing but an inconvenience. He went on to accuse me of driving with warning lights on which was untrue.Undertook the work without having been given an estimate of the costs or being given permission to do so.Took over a month to complete the work, apparently down to an elaborate story regarding the garage floors being painted. Thoroughly disappointed.RE: Alastair - I have written this review on behalf of a family member.In regards to being a spam account with no previous reviews, it might interest you to know that this is because we have never had such a bad experience with a business to feel the need to leave a review in the first place.The car has now been in the garage twice, and has come out with more problems each time.And just so that you yourself know this is a real review, maybe put more effort into your customer service rather than offering a twix after they pay you.

I can't commend Alistair Reed highly enough They were recommended to me by a family member who had had good service there. I had let my MOT overrun and they squeezed me in without hesitation. I called Friday evening and received a text at 8 o'clock Monday morning to tell me my car had been done. Excellent service.
