Great little shop (with a small pay car park round the back). Needed some VIN stamping done on two frames and when contacted initially, Paul was quick to respond. Job was done to my satisfaction. Paul is a nice bloke,; affable and approachable, knows his subject and it is heartening to see islands of small, artisinal, independent frame and bike builders in a sea of mass market discounters. If one day I decide to go down the custom build route for a bike, I'll definitely consider Ellis Briggs.

Avoid at all costs. I booked a respray of my bike following damage on a flight, which my insurance company paid for upfront. After trying to book in the service, all contact stopped and I am now completely unable to get any contact with Ellis Briggs, despite the respray being paid for in full.

If you want repairs done to a vintage steel bicycle frame, then this is one of a handful of firms that can still carry out this type of traditional engineering work. The nature of handcrafting and fabricating components means that you have to wait patiently for your turn in the queue, however the wait is worth it.

Very happy with the finish of my Carbon frame re-spray. I had spray canned this bike already, so it required the removal of two layers of paint. The finish is very high and the two-tone fade instructions were followed to the t. Highly reccomend. The delivery collection and return was good value for the convenance.

Do not trust this business under any circumstances. Do not give them your bikes or components for repair. Do not pay them a deposit for a bike. They could well rip you off as they have me.In Nov ‘20 I sent Paul Gibson a pair of rare, valuable Colnago Master forks after receiving a quote for welding work.A year later and streams of email excuses blaming the chromers I still have not got them back. Eventually Gibson emailed me to say he had retrieved the forks from the chromers and would be posting them to me the following day. They never arrived. The forks have been lost or stolen but no more contact from Gibson or Ellis Briggs.I have been awarded a County Court Judgement (CCJ) against Ellis Briggs for £480. The cost of replacing the forks plus costs. They did not answer the court letters and have not paid the judgement against them. I now have to pay out more money to a debt collection agency to recover my costs and am left with a £1200 Colnago master frame that is useless with no forks. Crooks. Not to be trusted. CCJ claim no is 239MC384.

Terrible experience - I advise you to avoid.I paid upfront for work to be done on an old steel frame to take modern components, and sent it away to the workshop. After almost a year of chasing Paul up due to no contact, the frame was eventually sent back to me with only half the work done, in an unrideable state. Initially he said he would finish the job I’d paid him to do, but then when it came to arrange a courier he broke off contact and now refuses to answer my calls or reply to my emails. No chance of getting the job done or a refund.Really unprofessional and will presumably do this to other customers too. I advise you to look elsewhere and find someone who won’t rip you off.

The quality of work was outstanding, all the logos were placed perfectly and the colours I chose were not standard and they were hit spot on. Would definitely use again. I was not in a hurry but if you want a top quality job it is worth the waiting.

Just had my Ellis Briggs frame modified and resprayed and what a great job they've done!Paul really knows his stuff. He advised and patiently guided me through the process and has responded promptly to all of the 'daft' questions I asked sinceI must admit to having a little taken aback when I first walked into the 'shop' and had a few lingering doubts when I left. However, as promised 8 weeks later I had a call from Matthew advising that the frame was ready for collection and what a thing of beauty it had become. These guys know their stuff.
