Commoners' Comedy Club
Another fantastic night at Commoners Comedy Club .This is a special intimate gig in the atmospheric brick walled basement of Thrive in Cambridge.. Ali and Harriet never fail to deliver an excellent programme with 4 comedians plus talented witty MC Ali pulling it altogether. The night is guaranteed to have you laughing.Once you experience you will want to just keep coming back . It’s a Cambridge gem !

Such a fantastic night, laughed so hard it was painful. Massive praise to Ali the host too, she easily could headline herself. Ps- I got back home to Gloucester safely…

Dear Reader,I hope this review finds you well.Perhaps you’re reading this thinking of attending the next Commoners’ Comedy Club event, but are a bit nervous, or don’t know what to expect. As a regular audience member with over a dozen shows under my belt, I do not hesitate to recommend this fabulous evening to Cambridge locals or weary distant travellers alike.Amazing Ali consistently turns out a superlative performance as resident MC, making newcomers feel very welcome, especially if they are in the NHS, or members of the Alphabet Mafia. Her off-stage partner in crime (but as they often point out, not in real life), Harriet, is the Jennifer Saunders to Ali’s Dawn French. A superb double act, and both genuinely lovely people to spend an evening with.An intimate venue in the dungeon (sorry, basement) of a popular vegan cafe, seats sell out quickly, so I always book in advance. You might get lucky on the door (you might get a seat, too), so try your chances. The four acts each event are varied and are all joy to watch. The small venue leads to hilarious audience interactions that lift the already excellent acts to an even higher level. There’s usually a range of experience on stage and one of the greatest joys is seeing a newcomer to comedy absolutely nail it.With a couple of breaks in between the acts, there’s plenty of time to chat with friends, have a drink, and meet new people. We often see people come along on their own, who are made to feel very welcome by Ali and Harriet, so don’t worry if you don’t have anyone to go with.As a big fan of all things fun, Commoners’ Comedy is my absolute favourite, LGBT friendly, Cambridge comedy night, and I always plan my diary around it. Unless you’re a total miserable b*stard, you won’t be disappointed.See you in the front row!

I've been twice now and Ali and Harriet are an excellent comedy duo all by themselves, but the actual night is also excellent, certainly one of the best I've been to in several several years.September was my first one and it had me laughing until I couldn't breathe. I was a bit worried it was a one-off, but last Friday put my mind to rest as that one was similarly amazing and excellent! Will definitely be coming again and bringing more friends along when I do. Excellent. Thanks to you both and see you next time!!!

Attended the kids comedy morning on the 11th Dec. Enjoyed every minute of it as did my 8 year old. The kids were fantastic as were the comedians including Ali. Looking forward to the next one!!

Commoners' Comedy Club
Found this awesome, friendly little Comedy Club when it restarted after lockdown in October 2022 and have been every month since! What a great find! Cosy venue at Thrive (formerly CB2 off East Road) and reliably funny acts each time (Mark Simmonds, Laura Smyth, Shelf, Lou Sanders most recently). MC Ali is always amazing too and guarantees an excellent night.
