After starting out with a free service mortgage broker and finding the process frustratingly slow, we were recommended New Town Mortgages by friends. The difference in service was instant. We got good, considered and quick advice that fit our needs (which were complicated by commercial properties on the ground floor). Chris and his team sourced us a good rate and got us a mortgage offer in record time. We hesitated at first because free services are available but I can honestly say that it was worth every penny and took a lot of stress out of an already stressful process. Highly recommended!

My fiance and I were selling our flat and buying a house in Edinburgh late last year and given the various uncertainties in the economy and the rapidly rising mortgage rates we looked to use some professional advice. I was recommended Chris by more than one person and when I got in touch initially it was clear that he was easily the right guy to go with. Communication was frequent, clear and reassuring with video and/or phone calls being arranged to suit our schedules and regular email correspondence to fill in any other gaps when we couldn't arrange a call.We looked to use Chris predominately for peace of mind in what was (and proved to be) a very turbulent time for getting a mortgage and I am so glad that we did. He picked up very early on the level of understanding I had and adjusted his language and vocabulary to account for this at all times so that there was never a misunderstanding between us. Both he and Jack have an extremely reassuring manner and approach and at times of high stress (and there were many!) he always settled our nerves with little more than a quick chat.Given the nature of our sale, the market and other short term issues in the economy we saw several delays in our move which lasted months longer than we anticipated. At every step Chris was not only there to offer support and guidance but was always enthusiastic to do so, and very upbeat when we certainly were not! Furthermore, given the late 2022 spikes in mortgage rates and then the delays we faced, there was a lot of adjustments to our deal and Chris was tireless in making sure our deal was always the best the market had to offer us. I even called him in a bit of a panic very late on in the process to ask about, and then alter our fixed term deal, and he brushed it off as no hassle and had the paperwork processed in minutes. This was incredibly reassuring at a time of great stress, and is particularly why we will not hesitate in the slightest to use Chris and Jack again in the future.Lastly, the fees were extremely competitive and didn't really reflect the significance of the time, patience and level of attention paid to us as customers. Chris went above and beyond to keep us ticking over in between long waits and disappointments surrounding our flat sale and our simultaneous house purchase.Overall, I will be recommending New Town Mortgages to everyone I get the chance to that is looking for support in this field.Thanks to both Chris and Jack in helping us to finally make the move earlier this month!
