Blackburn Birth Centre

Two week's yesterday we were in the professional hands of the wonderful team at the Blackburn Birth Center, from the first phone call at 5am to us leaving 36 hours later the team were extremely professional and exceeded our expectations by far. My wife's labour lasted 5.5 hours and after delivery we were made to feel at home, we placed in a room with a double bed, private bathroom and patio doors opening up on to the garden's. We took the option to stay over night with our son to make the most of the support and we can't thank them enough as it was invaluable.

We used BBC in 2012 for the birth of our son.The facilities and staff were both incredible.We had absolutely no issues with our birth and the midwives were more than happy to stick my birth plan. Caroline was amazing. She was so helpful with all of inquiries and reassured us if we felt unsure about anything.Hoping to return this year for baby number 4.

I have had my second child there. It was a great experience. All of the midwives were so lovely. I didn’t feel rushed to leave and the support from the midwives both during and after birth is excellent. I would definitely choose Blackburn birth centre again. Keep up the good work :)

The perfect birth experience. It couldn't have been betterI made a last minute decision to go to the Blackburn Birth Centre for my second baby after a horrific first experience in a Manchester hospital.From the moment I made that first phone call till the day I left after having my baby - it was amazing. The staff, the environment, the cleanliness. It was like a hotel! I was treated with utmost dignity and respect. Everything was done exactly how I wanted it. They followed my birth plan to the letter. It was truly amazing. The midwife who delivered my baby had 25 years of experience and that made me feel very comfortable. The student midwife was calm, patient and on hand all the way through. Faith has been restored in maternity services on the NHS. Thank you everyone at the BBC! My experience here has gone a long way in removing the trauma of the first hospital birth. For that I owe you a lot.

I was lucky enough to birth my baby at Blackburn Birth Centre as a low risk, first time mum. I had the most positive and amazing birth experience at Blackburn Birth Centre. The place I first met my baby- so calmly, safely, gently and positively- magic really❤️❤️.The midwives and BBC has and always will have a special place in my heart.The care we received was just amazing. We were greeted on arrival by my midwife and I felt instantly safe and calm. I had a water birth and had completed a hypnobirthing course previous to birth and I was completely supported in my birthing preferences. We had a beautiful room with a birthing pool, double bed for my partner and I, en-suite and double doors onto a lovely patio. We were lucky enough to have the opportunity to stay a second night at BBC for breastfeeding support which was invaluable and the midwives were there when we needed them throughout the night!Thank you to all of the amazing midwives especially the ones who looked after us so unbelievably well- Bridgette, Jenny, Katriona (my mum- who we were lucky enough to have as a birth partner), Carla, Larissa, Pam, Amaarah, Alison, Karen, Jill... to name a few. Jackie on reception was lovely too.I loved returning for check ups and have always had such a lovely experience with lovely staff. I felt bittersweet leaving such a lovely place- sad because of how wonderful the place and because of the incredible experience I’d had but obviously excited to get babe home.Thank you Blackburn Birth Centre for everyone who works there and all you do!Jess x x

I had my first baby at BBC. Had the most lovely birth and experience here. The rooms are amazing! They’re huge and have an en-suite. I had a water birth as there was a pool in the room. They dim the lights and put on a star effect lighting which was very calming. We could play our own music and they brought us whatever I needed like a birthing ball. You feel so well looked after here. As I had my baby in the very early hours of the morning they left me and my husband and new baby to sleep in the room in the double bed. The next morning they came in with breakfast!! Couldn’t ask for better care. Really hope I can have my next baby here too.

Clean, good facilities and spacious rooms. Staff are friendly, however in my experience I would have preferred a bit more reassurance and guidance when giving birth. As well as more information upon leaving. I know it is meant to be a more relaxed approach and they like to give you your own space but I felt a bit too much like I was on my own and not completely comfortable that someone was taking care of me. It felt very impersonal which is what you would expect from a hospital environment.

The most wonderful place to give birth in. From the original phone call to say I was in labour, to arriving and giving birth, the midwives were so lovely and kind. They did absolutely everything and nothing was too much. The midwife who delivered my little one was so lovely and calm. She allowed me to push when I felt I needed to and her presence was really reassuring. I would 110% recommend this place to any soon-to-be Mama! And this is coming from somebody who is really anxious about my health and worries about everything! It’s so great. X

I had my little girl here on 01/01/2017 and very recently just given birth to my little boy on the 22/05/2019.I had both births at Blackburn Birthing Centre and couldn’t fault one thing.The midwifes do everything they can for you and the amount of support you receive is absolutely amazing!Doesn’t feel at all like a hospital at all very relaxed atmosphere and soon after giving birth we had the patio doors open with the sun beaming through. It was the most perfect day.The ladies do a fabulous job - you should all be so proud of yourselves.Thanks again for the wonderful service...however I will not be returning as i’m not having any more babies - I will recommend to any other pregnant lady though!Thank you again SO so much for looking after us so well.

The safest, calmest most welcoming place with amazing staff who are encouraging and supportive.I had my baby girl here in 2020 and couldn’t fault anything, from the moment we arrived we were respected, treated kindly and professionally cared for. She was born in the water in a beautiful room, my partner was able to stay with me and our families all came to visit the morning after.Looking forward to hopefully experiencing Blackburn Birth Centre again when pregnant in the future, even attending antenatal appointments there felt relaxed and positive. The midwives and atmosphere is just what I was looking for and I couldn’t have asked for anything more. Thank you :)
