Starters were great, Christmas pudding would have been nice if it was hot, the mains also could have been hotter. If I order fish and chips, I would expect mushy peas. When I order Christmas dinner, I expect pigs in blankets. They shouldn’t have to be ordered separately. Some of the worst roast potatoes I have ever had. Luke warm and rubbery skins. Tasted frozen. Certainly not what a freshly cooked roast potato should taste like

We liked the location and decor very clean and welcoming. Party of four for lunch. On arrival pick and offered table by very pleasant and attentive member of staff. Table service was very good attentive. All ordered the Sunday lunch option. Negative points: When food arrived luke warm with cold plates. Parsnips and carrots under cooked Hot plates would have made the difference. Puddings and drinks good. We maybe should have mentioned it to waiter but hungry and just did not want further delay. Next time we visit I will make sure that I mention it to staff. Again, table service was excellent.

Lovely warm pub with great food. Definatley coming back to get the burgers our friends had as they looked so good.Only critism was the toilet area being so hot it was almost unbearable.

Staff seemed very uninterested in their job or making the atmosphere enjoyable for guests.BBQ chicken schnitzel stated mature cheddar cheese" melted on top but it was quite obviously a processed cheese slice! When mentioned to waitress she said this was now on the menu (it wasn't)No allergen menu available. The waitress also didn't know and took an age to find out what my friend could eat."

Perfect service, had a couple of small problems which were sorted straight away without fuss, one of them was a very loose salt pot! Great food, pleasant staff, good prices. Great atmosphere.Could improve on being able to tweak the meals slightly with different dips etc. Obviously being a chain there is no room for having a variety of different dips, dressings or sauces to chose from

Came here on a recommendation and really pleased I did. This is a lovely country pub and restaurant, the menu isn't extensive but it doesn't need to be because what is available is interesting and actually made it difficult to choose. I narrowed it down to 2 but had to rely on the helpful person behind the bar for advice, I think she was the manager so lamb done 2 ways was the choice.It was fantastic, piping hot and tasty.It was so good I'm going back tomorrow for the other choice.Put this on your list of places to go!

I am here on holidays from Spain, we were taking to The Crown Ardleigh. Arrived early PM and we were greated by Rio, we had a table near by an open fire which was very pleasant on a cold afternoon. She was very attentive and helped us in selecting one of the two menu's. We chose scolaps and lambs, which was delicious. I hope to return when I will come to England in the near future. Had a wonderful afternoon.

I am on a visit trip from the Netherlands and visited the Crown today. Deciding the menu's I was helped by Rio, my waitress for the afternoon, who advised me on the menu. The place was very nice and warm, and I enjoyed my food close to the fireplace. I had mushrooms as a starter and the lasagne as the main course which were very nice. My compliments to the Crown team, especially to Rio, for making our evening amazing with quality food.

Have a look at these 2 meals. They are both children’s meals prices at £8 each and at the point of the photo neither child had eaten a mouthful. 2 members of staff have confirmed that this children’s portion of fish is correct. Absolutely ridiculous. Also the children’s turkey and sausage meal is supposed to come with a sausage and no amount of arguing will ever convince me that a sage an onion stuffing ball is a sausage!!* To be clear. I did raise this with the staff at the point of being in the restaurant and they confirmed the portion size was correct. My point is the portion size is ridiculous and not in line with similar restaurants in the area. I ended up giving my 4 year old child some of my food. The point about the sausages wasn’t that is wasn’t rectified but that the staff were trying to convince me a sage an onion stuffing ball was as sausage.

We attended for lunch, the food was lovely and the waitresses were sweet & helpful however the manager different story… there was a service charge caller ‘wet’ the waitress wasn’t sure so she asked her manager, her manager was very rude to her then to us when we asked, not sure of her name but she has dark hair.. didn’t want to try help, no pleases or thank yous, no smiles and overall bad attitude
