Paid £10 for a propelling pencil that can be bought for just over £2 online.The place is obviously struggling as they are selling their own watches in the shop as well as old watch magazines and various other bric-a-brac. Buy at your own risk - you will be ripped-off and if it breaks they will probably have gone bust.

This shop is a home from home for pen and hand-writing enthusiasts. It is a professional pen establishment with a wide range of brand names in stock. They were able to provide me with a replacement ink barrel for my classic Waterman Man 100 fountain pen dating from 1987. For those with a love of pens and pencils and writing implements Signatures of York is a rare example of an independent specialist business in a world dominated by quickie Online purchases and blister wrapped plastic from Asia. I have also bought a magnificent Victorian writing case from this shop and you don't find those at W. H.Smith.

Good experience, went in looking for a specific pen and sadly couldn’t find one as it was years ago when I had one and lost one, the old gentlemen who looked after us was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful and had a nice conversation and tried to help me find a pen which was alike but couldn’t because I’m fussy. After that he helped me find the one I wanted on the internet so I have now ordered it, would definitely recommend them. Thank you:)

Mislabelled Pens. Bought a pen off of the Cross shelf. It wasn't a Cross. When researched online, what I had bought was worth 9 quid not the 28 spent.They are good for cheep DVDs though or ex Mont Blanc displays...

Couldn't ask for better service, I have been looking for a replacement pencil to match a set I had been given years ago by my father.Signatures were only ones that could help. I spoke to a very friendly and helpful lady who knew the model I was looking for, it had been discontinued by the manufacturer.She found one for me and offered to pack it in a presentation box that would hold the other pens from the set and send it out immediately.Nice to find a shop that will go the extra mile.

I had high hopes for this shop but was mostly disappointed. For a store named “Signatures” I expected more unique merchandise but they mostly carried generic pens from the largest European brands (eg Lamy, Schaefer). They also didn’t carry paper or notepads which are essential for a pen shop.It almost seemed like they were reducing their inventory since the shop was much larger than it needed to be and their selection was rather sparse (I think they used to sell Montblanc pens but don’t anymore).Staff were largely disinterested in me; aside from the obligatory hello they never said anything to me.Finally, prices were obscene. Pens that normally cost $10-20 were being sold for £30-40. The few interesting pens in the shop (eg Pelikan M800 green demonstrator) were laughably overpriced.Maybe they’re going out of business and don’t care anymore; if not they likely will be soon.

Bought a nice pen from here a few weeks ago. A piece came loose after a while during use so I went back to the store, and within seconds of explaining, the gentleman swapped it for a new one and I was on my way. Great service.

The owner of the shop kindly repaired two of my wife's pens and the charge was very reasonable. This place seems to be unique. He was trained at Parker's before the factory closed. Well worth a visit for the few of us that still use pen and ink.
