Important stuff first: Read the Terms & Conditions, FAQ very carefully before booking a week. David (owner) will cite them at you rather than engaging; fair enough, he must have had problems from previous hirers - all sorts of idiots hire Narrowboats.What should be FRONT AND CENTRE on their website is that (despite being only a mile from the Caen Hill flight), you CANNOT take the boat down them (remember the comment above). Leaving Devizes, you can ONLY go East.Right, that out of the way, local staff (Steve and maintenance man John) were FABULOUS; extremely friendly and helpful - In Steve's case, even when he was supposed to have the day off. Top man.The boat itself, Moonstruck, was absolutely fine. It is a hire boat, and (as I mentioned above) you get a wide variety of people hiring, and so don't expect 5⭐️ luxuries.We did have one problem, a burnt-out leisure battery. This is how I found out about David's responses to issues. Anyway, not one to let things like that spoil a holiday, with swift service from Steve and new batteries (and correct rewiring to prevent a reoccurrence from John), we had a good holiday.

Huge thank you to White Horse Boats, Devizes for an incredible day for my husbands birthday today! We were complete novices going out on the canal and we had the best day! David met us and gave us all our information and instruction and he was fantastic, put us completely at ease and explained everything so we were confident in going off on the water, (even told our little boy which birds to try to spot!). We had a lovely relaxing day, picnic on board and stopping off for a drink at the pub. Everybody on the canal was so friendly too! Such a nice family day out. Highly recommend.

Float down the Kennet and Avon canal with a few luxuries to keep you company. Hired a barge from white horse and everything was pretty straight forward. Sign your life away and set sail. Gets a bit narrow at times but breathe in a bit and all is well. Toilet and gas hob on-board and plenty of space for the entire family. Recommended if you want a relaxing day out!

A fantastic day out in some beautiful countryside made even better by the friendly and very helpful Cav (not sure on the spelling mate sorry). Nothing too much trouble.. You clearly love your job.. a great ambassador for White Horse Boats.. We hope you get your own boat one day!! Many thanks.

We had a really lovely and enjoyable day on one of the day hire boats. Steve was friendly and very helpful. Will definitely book again!

Charming experience - a slow pootle along the Devizes canal - all crew are volunteers and look after the barge really well. Really clean and they serve drinks and snacks / nothin fancy and a nice afternoon.

Brilliant day out on the narrowboat. Cavan, the host, was really helpful and was informative about everything needed for the day. We hired the boat as part of my dad’s 70th birthday and we all had a great time. The boat comfortably accommodated 6 people and a dog.

Just a beautiful day on the canal. White Horse boats are so friendly and helpful, made the whole adventure easy.

Lovely boat, great staff with knowledge of everything you need to know about narrow boating, as well as local knowledge of the canal, i.e., where to Moor overnight ! Will definitely be back for longer next year
