Stirling Bagpipes

Alan is a charming fellow and a true craftsman. The customer service was incredible. He was incredibly patient and happy to discuss the merits of my options at each step. Which woods were tougher, which would stand up better in heat, showed me samples of different metals with each wood type, what style of cover I should have, the different drones available. He was also full of stories about the pipes, pipers, and other interesting bits of history.When I came back to pick up the finished pipes he made sure I didn't leave the shop without some instruction in how to take them apart, pack them safely, put them back together, and get started playing. While I certainly didn't leave the shop a master, I knew what to do next.From start to finish I felt that Alan honestly cared about the kind of experience I would have with my pipes. Four months later I still love them!

On my honeymoon in Scotland, after going to Stirling Castle, my wife and I met Alan's shop, I have been a bagpiper since I was 11 years old. It was a dream come true to visit Scotland and also the shop of this great man that I saw more than once. in the search engine and check what he had in his shop, Alan is a top notch connoisseur I bought a beautiful McCallum in his shop, and then we shared stories, Thanks Alan for everything

Alan is a real craftsman and was so patient with me as a novice bagpiper. He sorted me out with a beautiful set of bagpipes and was so informative that I am inspired to improve. His chanters were also so much lovelier than mine and easier to play that I got one of them too. It is a fantastic shop, we spent most of yesterday there, so interesting.

From beginner to professional, Sterling Bagpipes is the place to go. I bought a set of Great War era pipes from Alan and he spent extra timing showing me his vast collection and even met me after hours to size and let me play them. Moreover, Alan is a reputable pipe maker in his own right. His shop could easily be mistaken as a tourist trap at the base of Sterling Castle, but it’s any but.

The owner made the experience beyond amazing. The building is from 1715, he has a number of antique bagpipes and great books to get started. Would totally recommend!
