Good Food

Food was tepid when we got it home 5 minutes from picking it up. We usually go to the Chinese in Newtown St Boswell's 15 minutes away and the food is always still very warm when we get it home. Alas the St Boswells Chinese was closed last night, so we opted to give Good Food another chance after the last poor meal over a year ago when we were last in there. The hot and sour soup needed to be re heated at home, it was gloopy, it also had little or no meat, shrimp content. Having tasted the BEST shredded crispy beef in Scotland at Rendezvous in Edinburgh's West End, Good Food's take on the dish was a stark reminder why I should never order this dish anywhere else. It was like eating straight vinegar, which was the domineering flavour. The dish left a disgusting vinegary after taste for an hour after finishing it (it was a slog) and left the roof of my mouth almost stripped of its skin by the vinegar. The rice was the usual Chinese take on EGG" fried rice

Been going here for years and it's not often I leave online reviews. However, such is the quality and huge portions that I've never been disappointed yet. Very friendly staff and a place I cannot recommend highly enough.

The food from this takeaway is delicious. It’s only the third meal I have had, but I do order to much, therefore tasted many dishes and every plate is top notch. Great people, authentic food with generous portions. I’d give 10 ⭐️ If I could.MicheleIsaac Walton & Co.

The food was delicious, reasonably priced and had very generous portions - certainly too much to eat in one sitting. We especially enjoyed the lovely Prawn Crackers, Vegetable Spring Rolls, Chips and Special Chow Mein. The Sweet-and-Sour chicken dish, although very tasty, was leaning more towards being a 'Lemon chicken' dish, but I will get it, again. Overall very satisfied and we will order food from them, again. Happy to have a good local Chinese Take Away in Earlston, again.

Sweet and sour had a distinctly odd" taste

I like the prawn satay, the sweetcorn crabmeat soup, the duck dishes and the beef with green peppers and black bean sauce. What you'd expect from a decent take away. Can be very busy at dinner times.

Only parked outside this time. 6 months ago the worst takeaway I've ever had. Tasted of chemicals and the dogs refused to eat it. Inedible.

Ordered on Friday night a variety of dishes as having friends over.Food was very bland in flavour and had no deferecial in colour or taste just full of onions and sauce.We were all disappointed with the food and packed a majority of it away back in the tubs and box it was picked up in.Took it back the next day and explained to the young man who was very understanding how disappointed we were on this occasion as we have ordered a few times before.The lady owner came through and displayed a public trantrum that her food was good and wasn't willing to listen in a mixture of languages.After a very uncomfortable debate the young man gave half my money back as the lady owner shouted at him.Will never be using this take away again.utterly disguised in how I was treated and spoken/ shouted at for having an opinion.Thankyou to the young man.

I live over in Melrose and usually I eat from the Chinese in St Boswells or Galashiels but I thought we would try yourselfs, unfortunately the chicken chow mein had be heated in a microwave and tasted burnt the crispy chicken was soggy with a water sauce the BBQ ribs had a water sauce also when it's meant to be sticky and sweet the only safe thing we had was the free prawn crackers. I rang yourselfs to share my disappointment with your food and all I was told was that's how we cook our food unfortunately sir.... yes it is unfortunate that you cook it like that through a microwave with watered down sauces. Sorry for the horrible review but just a terrible experience.

It's great that it's open again to have another place in the village to get food, especially Chinese. Great service. Just make sure you leave enough time on busy days to order your food to avoid disappointment.
