Fish Market

Billingsgate Fish Market is a living, breathing part of London’s history. An interesting historical quirk is that whilst it is located in London Borough of Tower Hamlets, it has been run by the City of London Corporation since its move eastward in the 1980s. Still a working fish market frequented by hundreds of traders every morning, you will find all manner of fish and seafood - as well as some live specimens (I only saw crab and lobster at the time of my visit). The hours are excruciatingly early so be sure to time your visit accordingly. The Market is quite easily accessible by vehicle or foot from either Canary Wharf underground or DLR station or equally from Poplar DLR.

No cheaper than some fishmongers for the normal punter but fresher and more variety. Probably better for traders.

Great place with a wide range of fresh fish, shellfish and other great products.

Nothing major to report. But the guard was very welcoming, got in and the vendors were pleasant as well. Don't know if I'm only saying this because I was only visiting the country but the prices were well worth it compared to what I pay for seafood in my country. Especially the salmon and shrimp

The place amazing for see food stuff.

Long, long queues - however in and out very quickly. The experience of Billingsgate has changed so much. Not sure if certain stalls are actually selling 'fresh off the boat' fish. Needs clarification. However considering covid restrictions, the overall experience was satisfactory

Any seafood from shellfish to exotic fish you can get. Fish wholesale prices from box to single fish. They don't clean the fish if that's what your looking for
