The Little Lock
We called here yesterday for a late breakfast/early lunch. We sat outside on their lovely terrace which over looks the canal, it has just been taken over by new owners, there were outside heaters so we were nice and warm. I had a bacon butty and a hot chocolate and my hubby had a gluten free bacon butty and a pot of tea, plenty of bacon, the gluten free bread could have done with being warmed up a bit but they were very happy to receive this feedback, we also took a piece of gluten free carrot cake back home which my hubby assured me was delicious, I would come here again and I hope the business does well for them, it had a nice feel about it and on a sunny day I could sit on that terrace watching the world go by all day

What an absolute gem of a place!We stopped off here for some cake on our walk down the Huddersfield Narrow Canal.The staff were lovely and chatty, welcoming us and our dog very warmly. We sat on the rear terrace with lovely views over the canal.We each ordered a cake and a hot drink. The cakes were delicious, and huge!We would definitely recommend popping in for a pit stop if you are heading down the canal.

Lovely stop off for refreshments. Walked from Slaithwaite & called in for a bite to eat. Can highly recommend & dog friendly too . Delicious food, lovely place & great service. Thank you .

We found The Little Lock whist out on a walk. The view on the back terrace is really nice, as was the cake and staff.

I used to go to this place when it was under different ownership and the food was delicious.I popped in about a week ago and was sadly disappointed. I asked if they did take out as the previous owners did but I was told not usually however they agreed that I could take a slice of cake after standing there for nearly 10 minutes despite there being 3 members of staff behind the counter ignoring me a nice member of the staff came up to me and finally served me. 2 of the members of staff behind the counter, were not engaging at all, they clearly knew what I was waiting for and would have taken them literally 2 minutes to serve me.The cake I had was the thinnest slice and was more than a few days old.Sadly disappointed with this place, customer service should be paramount.

So happy we finally got round to checking out this cute little place. They really have bagged themselves a great pitch alongside the Huddersfield Narrow Canal! We were lucky as they still had tables out on the balcony, so we got to soak up the sunshine as we enjoyed our Darkwoods coffee and Saddleworth Brownie cakes. The interior has been so well done, a real asset to Marsden and the canal users. And the staff were an absolute dream, so welcoming and pleasant, a real credit to the venue! It's not often that you come across that sort of service, so I do hope they know that they're appreciated. Will be visiting again soon

17 walkers landed here during a storm and not only the walkers, but their dogs were all quickly accomodated and served very promptly, with delicious food and much needed hot drinks. We left to continue our walk, wanting to stay and have lunch bathing in the warmth of the welcome. We will be back.
