The Trawlerman's catch

This was a large fish.. it's as big as my hand! Women working in there mixed up orders twice and then lied to me about the fish sizes. They took orders for different size fish from different people and then when it was pointed out to them they had mixed up orders they said they couldn't because they only had one size fish! I paid for a large and have received the smallest fish I've ever seen. They argued with each other and although one was polite the woman frying was very rude. The lies are what made me leave this review.. if you go here don't waste money on the bigger fish, they only have one size!In response to your reply, I left the review because when I opened up my food the fish you had swapped it for was another small one and I was already annoyed because as you were swapping the fish the woman behind the fryer said she couldn't mix them up because there's only one size. If there was only one size, why when me and the man after me ordered large fish did she get you to clarify that you wanted two large fish putting in? There were 4 small fish that had been ordered twice coming out of the fryer before the two large. The man with glasses in front of me had his order for 4 small fish called through by you before you took care of the phone order, then the other woman serving took his order again and called through another 4 fish. Two of those fish were the two you wrapped up and then swapped for my order the other two had just come out as you were doing that. The two large (if they were?) Would have still been in the fryer.You gave me a small fish, you took money off me for a large the woman behind the fryer got you to confirm it was a large I wanted and then when I question the size she says there is only one size.. one or both of you are liars, when I'm giving my money to someone being a liar is not a personality trait I want to see in them.And at the end of the day if you honestly think a fish no bigger than my hand is a large you need to go and check your competition. There's plenty of other chippys round here we're the large fish is as long as your fore arm.

I’ve just visited The Blue Clam since the new owners have taken over , and I can say I wasn’t disappointed the fish was really nice . The chips were really nice and crispy . I found the staff very friendly and chatty . The whole shop looked spotless .They definitely take pride in their hygiene standard’s . I will definitely be returning on a regular basis now for quality Fish&Chips .

Not a great chippy at all. Chips aren’t very good and portions are small for the price.Extra large fish is like a small anywhere elseGolden haddock in Sowerby is miles better and cheaper

Wow the fish butty was wonderful. The chips just melted in your mouth and the Irish Curry sauce is lovely. The team are so nice and friendly. Love this local chippy.

Got to say well worth a visit. Fish and chips were delicious and customer service excellent. Had a fantastic tea, I would recommend to everyone.

Don’t touch this place they can not get a simple order right. Ordered pudding chips and gravy. Got home no gravy so went back the girl apologised and said she had charged me would I like a tub the owner game round and just refunded the money.Then got back home the chips were just bits and the pudding was microwaved out of its skin crusty round the edge and tasteless. Luckily it just went in the bin.So sorry but it was a total disappointment.

Always delicious. Chips are fantastic, incredibly gorgeous and the portions are generous. Fish batter is crispy and lovey!!! I highly recommend

Did a delivery in the village and just spotted this place on the way back to the Motorway to head home down South.What a lovely chippy, the 2 ladies that served me were so nice and the freshly cooked food was delicious.Now I know where it is I'll certainly be back on my travels up North.
