We had a lovely lunch here, really enjoyed the sausages and mash! The staff were great, so polite and helpful. We sat next to the lovely open fire.

The Star on the Hill
My Dad took me here back in November. We were warmly welcomed and the staff were great during the whole lunch period. Unfortunately the restaurant/pub feels cold, they really need to light all fires as it’s an old building and the floors and hard etc. The food, which was really why we were here was very good. My biggest niggle is that I wish restaurants (not just this one) would put your food on a bigger plate! (You could say ‘or give you less’ but I’d just prefer a slightly larger plate please!)My Steak was excellent, and cooked properly, the sides were also very good, although a whole small vine of tomatoes probably looks better than is actually needed. My fathers was just as good and we would certainly return here, but maybe in the summer months when it’s a bit warmer.

The food was delicious, service and staff were just lovely. The log fire was gorgeous. The whole place was beautifully clean. Only downside was the incredibly bright lighting which made you able to count the wrinkles on your fellow diners faces and should you need to you would have been able to complete an intricate sewing challenge. Please switch the overhead bright white spotlights for reflected light from orange tone side lights and wall lights. It's beautiful what the new couple have fine with the place and the chef was fab, but the lighting made it feel like dinner in an interrogation suite. Make this one switch and this will be a truly fabulous dining experience with no faults.

The Star on the Hill is a bit tucked away in the countryside.The Food was fantastic, the drinks are reasonably priced. The service delivered as expected and the owners are very friendly. The decor, whilst still undergoing some updating, is really nice.Would definitely come back if in the area.

Lovely views, welcoming staff and good food although a bit pricey. Once all of the updating work has been finished it'll be a gem. Well worth a visit.

Stopped here as travelling a long way today and needed a pit stop. Shouldn’t have bothered, the vegan roast was horrific! See the picture of what was supposed to be a hearty roast, compared to my partners! When I asked for gravy got told there was none! £14 for a few veggies and a large piece of what I can only call stuffing at best!! Despite me complaining and getting an apology, we were not even offered the meal for half price! Awful service at best - very unimpressed!

Lovely Sunday lunch in a very nice pub with a good selection of ales and wines. Between us we had the beef and pork both excellent. Very nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Good menu to suit all , vegetarian and vegan. Very busy on a Sunday so booking is advisable. Would definitely recommend.

My family went for lunch on a quiet Thursday in June. Their customer service was spectacular. They were attentive and made great recommendations for ale and desserts. I had a local ale called Butty Bach that was delicious and refreshing. They have children food options, which were good for my 2 picky eaters. We all had toffee pudding for the first time and can highly recommend trying it. Outside dining was nice due to the pleasant weather and views of the countryside. I had the daily special of sea bass that was delicious.
