A Stitch In Time

I was not impressed with the service here. I’d booked an appointment, and when I arrived at my appointment time the lady didn’t even know what I was there for despite having emailed and spoken to her earlier that day, and she thought I was due to come at a different time (seemed very disorganised). I had to get dressed in a cramped toilet (no designated changing area) and then parade myself into the living room in front of the ladies entire family having their dinner. It was very awkward and uncomfortable for me as I didn’t really want to have to show myself off to lots of people at once, especially when they’re eating and watching tv loudly, and I was wearing a dress that was gaping and exposing my body and bra, in front of her male family members. It was not a professional consultation. She started trying to adjust the dress length, but I explained that’s not what I came for (again, poor communication), I explained the issue with my dress was some gaping buttons - I asked her advice on what could be done. She told me there was nothing that could be done as I was a ‘big girl’ and those sorts of dresses should be left ‘to the slimmer ladies’. This was very embarassing particularly in front of an audience (her family). I got changed in the toilet again and left, but was really upset she didn’t even try to help. I ended up taking the dress to another (much more professional) seamstress who was lovely and sewed the dress up beautifully - it fit perfectly and was not too small in any way. The problem was not the dress or my body type, but the attitude and professionalism of the seamstress at this business.

Took a pair of gentlemans trousers to be hemmed. Janine was lovely..friendly and trousers were sorted within 48 hrs at a very reasonable price of £5. She already has another pair to do for me as i write this... thankyou Janine
