Phil Gardiner Guitar Tuition

I've been with Phil for about 18 months now and from someone who has no musical background I feel confident and can see my ability growing week in week. The lessons are always pitched at the right level so I come away feeling that I am making good progress.What's great about Phil is he tailors my lessons to me, what I enjoy playing and listening to, but will sometimes give me tracks which will open my eyes to new music and new techniqies He is full of knowledge but also very personable, the lessons are always fun and leave me feeling motivated.Cannot recommend enough.

Phil is an excellent tutor for any level. He has taught me a variety of music from rock to blues. I have gained confidence since I started my lessons with him. He has always given lots of advice and has helped with the maintenance of my guitar.

Phil, a highly experienced professional musician with a wide understanding of all guitar genres, is an excellent tutor. I find his lessons highly organised and particularly receptive to my guitar learning needs and development. Above all the lessons are fun and Phil has encouraged and enabled me to progress from basic guitar playing to a greater understanding of rhythm and tone and increased dexterity in playing.

Phil has been teaching me for the past few months. I wanted a teacher that would teach me to understand the instrument and the makeup of music, I didn't want to come along every week and learn a song, my aim is blues improvisation. Phil has delivered on that and so much more. With Phil, you will get rounded theoretical and practical tuition. Phil has a passion for playing guitar and seems genuinely invested in my playing as he wants to share the joy that playing music can bring. He is very knowledgable when it comes to gear too, he helped my to find the perfect guitar (PRS 24 SE) which he has setup so it plays as smooth as silk.On a technical note, Phil is very well equipped with online lessons with a good internet connection and good quality video and sound. Phil's virtual lessons are the closest you will possibly get to physical lessons.

Phil's been teaching my 8 year old daughter for almost 6 months and he's been amazing. He is extremely knowledgeable and is also an excellent teacher. He goes out of his way to give her music she likes and knows but is careful to pitch it at a level that she can cope with. Phil is really keen to engage with her and also to involve me in the process to give her not only the best lessons but also making sure her practice during the week is effective too. I couldn't be more happy with Phil as a teacher and would happily recommend him to any level of student.

My son and I both really look forward to our guitar lessons with Phil. We have been learning different musical styles from pop and rock to jazz, blues and folk. I’ve been taking lessons every week with Phil for over two years; I wish I had started taking lessons with him sooner. I started taking lessons because I wanted to not only learn how to play guitar but also how to make music. To learn to improvise and understand the theory behind it. Not just play sheet music.Phil has gone above and beyond. He has helped me find a great guitar. He has given me a range of exercises every week according to my music preferences. He has given me guidance on how to improve my technique and has taken the time to repeatedly explain challenging aspects of music theory.My playing has seen huge improvements since taking lessons with Phil and I certainly intend to keep taking them. I am very happy with his lessons and I highly recommend him!

I have had guitar lessons with Phil now for around 3 years. Thanks to him, the guitar isn't just an instrument now but a very important part of my life! Phil's way of teaching is so different to any other teacher as instead of sticking to the exact same lessons for every single student, he designs his lessons around myself as an individual so that I can focus on the things that I need to improve on, which makes it so much more enjoyable and interesting for me. He has helped me so much to work on my own original songs and he always suggests ways for me to improve them. This has helped me gain confidence as he helps me prepare for performing on stage and is also helping me prepare for a studio session which I have later in the year. Phil makes his lessons fun and he is such a friendly person. Couldn't recommend him more and cannot thank him enough! :)

Phil pays attention to detail to improve your technical ability whilst building on your theoretical knowledge. He has a wealth of experience and importantly, he is a patient all round nice guy! My daughter, Cerys, has had lessons with Phil for two and half years. She initially just wanted to add another instrument to her repertoire. However, Phil's great teaching style has enthused Cerys to make the guitar her main instrument. His lessons are tailored to the requirement and ability of his Pupil, and he ensures that each and every lesson is made as interesting as is absolutely possible.
