MOT CENTRE READING

MOT Centre Reading performed my car's MOT today. Waseem and his team are fantastic, all work was completed quickly, I was offered free coffee, and all for the most competitive price of £30. Will come back; highly recommended.

Their name should be Cheaters and Thieves Centre Reading". They quote you with cheaper and attractive prices and then either do not complete the job or do it with lower quality parts.Below is my Story :-I got a major service booked with them through the "BookMyGarage" website . Booked a Major service and MOT here, charged £410 in total as they had to fix parts to pass the MOT. 2 days later my car breaks down and the fault is something that the garage said would 100% be picked up on a service and definitely on a Major service. Cowboy outfit

Good experience.. but would recommend them offering better prices for car diagnostics, they were asking crazy (£40/60) price to just diagnose a problem!

Wanted to charge £290 to change brakes and pads unnecessarily. Ended up charging £50 for having a look at brakes" when wheel bearing was real issue. Took the car to another garage & discovered brakes & pads are fine but wheel bearing was hanging off. Beware

Realised I urgently need an MOT done on a saturday morning. Called MOT centre on the phone and they said they would be able to do so on the same day. Drove my car in just before noon and got my MOT certificate 40mins later. Efficient and friendly service, very well priced. Would recommend.

The service offered was very good. They were very accommodating and helpful. Waseem answered all questions and went out of his was to assist.

My husband booked a full service and MOT two weeks ago and had asked them to look at the specific issue of squeaking back wheels. It failed MOT with a few things that needed fixing which they did so that it then passed. They said that there was a coolant leak but that they couldn’t replace the pipe for two weeks. They gave him a part number to order and told him that the car would be fine to drive in the meantime.My husband decided two weeks was too long to wait and hired a different mechanic to fit the coolant pipe he had ordered. When the new mechanic saw the new part he said that it was completely wrong (despite ordering from the number provided by the garage) and actually it was in fact the coolant tank that was cracked not the pipe like they had said. He also told my husband that it was dangerous that they had told him to drive without this being fixed.My husband noticed that the original squeak was still happening and the new mechanic advised that it was likely when they replaced the break pads (which they said would fix the squeaking)that they forgot to apply the grease that would stop the squeaking. As my husband had already spent a considerable amount of money for the garage to tackle this originally he decided to take the car back to them so that they could fix their fault. The man on the phone said this would be free of charge as it should have been done as part of the service.Whilst the car was there the garage phoned my husband as they had lost his key….not encouraging at all. They then found it again and after looking at the car said that it was now the front break pads that was the issue and that the clip was broken and couldn’t be fixed until Monday. We went to pick up the car as my husband needed it for work. On the phone they quoted £160 but then in person said £220 (and later £ 240), when he asked why the increase they said VAT. I have a maths degree and know it is obvious that 20% of 160 does not make £240!! They also said they would do it for £190 if we paid in cash….another less than encouraging sign. My husband decided that he wanted to take the car elsewhere but the garage would not release his car without paying the £40 diagnostic fee. When I questioned why this needed to be paid they said it was because they were now dealing with the front wheels not the back as we had originally booked in for (even though we had not asked them to do this). After a heated discussion my husband and I decided to pay the £40 so that we could get the car and get out. Do not take your car here!! Would give zero stars if possible.
