I joined Avenues in January 2019 after much deliberation - I was widowed 18months earlier and feeling quite vulnerable. I’d dabbled in online dating in the previous weeks but felt quite uncomfortable and read the usual horror stories. Avenues seemed very different, lots of identity checks and personal care.I had a Zoom interview with My Matchmaker Lynda and felt instantly reassured. She was very friendly, understanding and quite encouraging. She explained the way things would work and that at no time would my profile be visible to anyone who had not been selected by them as a potential match.After a couple of Profiles who weren’t for me - we just spoke on the phone and decided not to take things further - I was sent Mike’s profile. We spoke for a couple of hours on the phone a few days later and agreed to meet that Saturday lunchtime.
