West Highland Way, Start

Incredible hike, amazing views. I suggest giving it a good 5 days if taking big back packs. The section along the lake takes a very long time but is stunning. You need a net for the insects.

The West Highland Way was a stunning long-distance hiking trail that spans across the Scottish Highlands, offering breathtaking views of the rugged landscape and picturesque villages. I recently completed the trail, starting from Milngavie and ending in Fort William, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience.The path we took, starting from Milngavie and ending in Fort William, was a seven-days experience, well-planned and provided us with a great mix of challenging hikes, stunning scenery, and comfortable accommodations.Overall, I would highly recommend the West Highland Way to anyone looking for a challenging but rewarding hiking adventure in the Scottish Highlands. It was truly an unforgettable experience that I will cherish for years to come.

Excellent easy to find start and experience one of the great long distance paths in the UK , could have ran all the way to FW.

This has been my dream to do for a while now. Its harder than I imagined it was going to be and I'm a keen hiker. If I was doing it again I would definitely use a bag carrier service as our bags and camping gear slowed us down a lot.

Love the sign and post at the start of the west highland way. Cool way to begin the journey.

Amazing multi day hike through some stunning scenery. I’ve completed the walk both carrying a pack and using the bag transfer service and I’d definitely go for the latter. Beware the midges !

Free water - fill your bottle before embarking on this trail which goes all the way to Fort William. Milngavie is an interesting small town with plenty of places to grab a bite or buy your snacks & supplies for the trail.

We cycled the origional route which did not include any of the easier diversions. Great route but you do need an high level of fitness and Stamina. Be prepared to carry your bike for many miles and hike it over the toughest terrain you could ever imagine.

Just starting at Milngavie walked 12.5 miles to our digs in Drymen. Beautiful scenery easy walking good preparation for the days ahead
