Shirley Precinct Post Office

Staff here are always friendly and helpful. I'm surprised by the other reviews as I always find the man that runs the post office to be friendly and crack a joke. Post offices are always going to be busy especially as this one is small but I prefer it to others because of the staff.

I only go here if I really have to. The couple who run it are rude. You get told to put it on the scale without any please or thank you never mind a smile. I took 3 parcels in this morning to be told he could only take one as needed separate codes for each. When I returned and phoned the company the code was already on the parcel. They stated he was being awkward. He watched me put the parcels on the counter then moved slightly to the right and said I need the parcels here. Avoid at all costs.

Similar experience to existing reviews. The shop opened 15 minutes late, and the staff member then proceeded to spend 10 minutes laying out his tabloids before serving customers, who had to wait around like lemons with no apology. He then dealt with my parcel in a rude and abrupt manner, and seemed to have no idea about the rules regarding the restricted (but not high risk) item I was posting. I was amazed the parcel turned up at its destination frankly. I'm going to skip the Post Office and Royal Mail entirely next time, there are alternatives which are less hassle.

Rude lying staff. The older short haired woman with glasses on the front till is rude and a liar. Avoid at all costs. Refused to let me pay by card even though i paid by card two days previous.At first she tried to lie, saying they dont accept card. I replied that i had paid by card two days ago, then she started saying that she meant on that particular till. Well move tills then! The other one was empty. Just a lie to cover up her initial lie. Wouldn't even look me in the eye when speaking to me.

I always find the staff friendly and helpful; the services it offers are really handy.

Just to be clear, the gentleman and the blonde lady usually working there are always kind and very helpful, but today's experience involving another member of staff was very disappointing. I was at the door 15 minutes before closure time, where a lady inside the post office was guarding the door saying she wouldn't let me in, as the van picking the post had already collected it. (??!) What an absolutely appealing excuse, considering there were still 3 or 4 people inside (what happens to their letters/parcels they want to send if the excuse" was a genuine one?!) and I actually said it didn't have to go the same day (I had a parcel to send). Nothing. The lady also completely ignored my request to do it at the till by the door instead - I suggested it

Always friendly and happy to help, even when my daughter sends parcels there and forgets to pick them up.

I went in yesterday for the first time and the queue went back as far as the door. There were two employees behind the counter but only the young girl seemed to be serving the customers. The asian man just sat and ignored the customers, whilst he sorted out paperwork which I am sure could have been put aside to deal with the queue. Whilst waiting so long in the queue, three customers told me that this was always the situation in here and one gave up on the wait altogether. When the man finally did serve a customer their was no apology and he seemed put out by having to do some work. I won't be using this post office again.
