Great place good atmosphere the owners are brilliant they leave you alone unlike some other places this was my 3rd time there it didn't disappoint

Really lovely place, the people who run it are wonderful, views are incredible! Back to basics campsite so great for people who are seasoned campers, but wouldn't recommend it for first-timers.

Big Hillsdale Farm Camping
Working farm with a large field used for tents and campervans. Field slopes alot but there are flatish areas. Campervan OK with wheel ramps.Facilities are basic, two toilets in the field with two more along with a shower in the workshop building. Hot water for cleaning too. Freezer available for storing food near the farm house. Great views and within walking distance of the Black Lion, across fields on signed footpath. Some steep bits though.Cost per night was £5 per person. Quite reasonable.

I loved this campsite although I don't think it would be for everyone. It is fairly basic and the field is steep. I've included loads of pictures including a GPS track of the 250m walk to the only shower! If I hadn't been able to a flat-ish pitch I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much... but I did... On a separate note there's great walking right from the farm. However, cows we're a problem and some group members opted to walk on the roads in the end. I was glad we didn't have a dog with us.

A campsite with alittle bit of everything. A usable shower, great local amenities and beautiful views at cheap prices. If you like walking and camping, Big Hillsdale Farm Camping is a place to visit

Lovely place. Lovely owners, brilliant views and chilled. Very basic. Just what you need to relax. Will go again. The kids loved the animals

Big Hillsdale Farm Camping
This is a great spot for camping and just at the entrance of the peak District. The views are lovely and if you are into hiking just a stone away from manifold valley.This place has toilets with hot water and cleaning facilities (a sink) to wash your dirty boots and clothing, the only not so good thing is that the toilets facilities are outside the campaign grounds (3 mins walking and with tiny baby legs that is 10mins ;))But I do recommend it, the price is great just £5 per night £3 for burning logs and they lend you the pit the owner Julia nice person.. ah and of course a lot of animals to see.

Friendly staff, everything you need. Shower,.toilets, washing up access to freezer etc. All basic but useable and clean. Bit of a trudge up the hill from the shower to campsite but the exercise is useful. I'd stay again.

Big Hillsdale Farm Camping
Very rural setting. Field mainly on slope but I found a good spot for my small caravan. Showers and toilets are 2 mins walk from the field and are rudimentary but cleaned regularly. Two toilets also on the field. Only £5 per person per night so good valueNo shops within a few miles so stock up. Local pub Black Lion 5 mins drive. Has good reputation for food. Didn't test but excellent cask pale ale!

Big Hillsdale Farm Camping
I love this campsite. Really nice owners, very cheap. The facilities are a few mins walk away with hot free showers and sink, freezer space. Field is a bit slopy but easy to find flattish areas, very quiet, great views. In fact I moved here from another site which cost more, it was noisy and had no hot water or showers and owners were not responsive to calls. Was very happy to be here instead and will definitely return, very peaceful spot.
