The Little Fish Company (Kelvedon)

Called into Little Fish Shop in Keveldon this morning & found the most well stocked small shop ever. Fish looked in top condition, very fresh, lovely clean well laid out premises & the friendliest staff. Thank you!!

Staff are lovely as is the fish they sell. Always support your local shops and this one especially. You will not be disappointed! The fish is always so fresh and believe me it beats the local supermarkets. Go and see for yourself.

I'm giving this shop a 5 star rating, as the fresh fish and the butchers are both very good.However, I bought 2 tubs of what was clearly labelled as Crab Flake with Prawn and Mayonnaise, at £6 a tub, only to get home and read the extremely small ingredients list to find out it wasn't crab at all, but cheap surimi fish, otherwise called crab sticks". Sorry

Having lived by the beach in Spain for six years we are used to very fresh fish. Today I bought Sea Bream fillets. In Spain this is Dorada, normally bought whole. The eat they cut it down the middle like book ends.I have just lightly fried the fish in butter & olive oil. Delighted to say the fish was as fresh & tasty as Spain. We will be back for more of this delicious fish and more. Brill & Lemon Sole have also been excellent.

Update:I would like to say that the team at the fishmongers have replied very quickly and dealt with my complaint very effectively.Original post:Very dissatisfied with our service from the fishmonger today - we placed a pre-order several days in advance for a range of seafood and were completely let down.They only managed to get a couple of parts of the order right, changed a lot of the items and didn't have some of the items in our order.When we queried why, we were told that they'd put all of our produce onto the seafood platters for other customers as they were 'very busy'.We'd be recommended the shop from people and are very disappointed - we pre ordered specifically so that they had time to order in our request.Had steak from the butchers yesterday and service and steak were great.

Great little fishmongers fresh fish every day great to see a little fishmongers still surviving.

This is a real gem of a shop , both fish and meat are incredible! So fresh!! What I love about the little fish shop is the service , it is exactly what you want from a local business.I order a lot of boneless chicken thighs for my tandoor and other butchers didn’t want the hassle but it’s a never a trouble here, I would advise pre ordering especially in this time of lockdown as the produce disappears quickly as it’s so good .I am a keen chef and I can’t fault anything I’ve ever had from here .Well done to all involvedSimon Houlding
