Pets at Home Durham

I came in to get my dog's nails clipped. They didn't need much off but as we were visiting an elderly relative we couldn't take any risks. They were gently and friendly with my dog who thankfully was calm. There was other dogs there who were clearly nervous but they were so professional and allowed owners into the grooming area where the dogs were getting distressed.Very professional, helpful and friendly.

Genuinely the worst customer service I’ve experienced. The one (!!) staff member on the shop floor who was preoccupied with his earpiece willingly ignored and walked away from myself and my boyfriend when we wanted to ask if they were able to take rodents out of the cage to handle before buying. Somehow another customer managed to speak to him and he was preoccupied with her for around half an hour, in which my boyfriend and I had to hang around the shop waiting as we couldn’t ask the one lady on the till who was dealing with long queues. After feeling like we were chasing the worker around the shop when he was no longer with the customer he eventually walked off while I was in the middle of saying excuse me and then came back five minutes later and told me to talk to another employee nearby in the grooming salon. She then explained why they can’t take rodents out of the cage, which is fine in itself but would have preferred to not waste half an hour of my afternoon and feeling like a pest in the process. Also interesting as I’ve previously been able to either handle or see an employee handle every pet I’ve ever bought prior to buying in another Pets at Home branch for the past ten years? And she said they were too young to be handled which of course begs the question of why they’re selling them at that age anyway.She was perfectly nice but I think it’s clear the place is understaffed and that that probably contributed to the man’s behaviour. However I have worked retail and services for many years prior and even overworked never behaved like that to a customer, nor have I ever encountered a retail assistant to behave in that way in any other shop.Went into Smyth’s after and was almost immediately asked by an employee stocking shelves if we needed any assistance which reassured me I wasn’t going mad by expecting a retail assistant to actually assist.

Cant praise the staff enough,Thomas and Jordan and a woman who I didnt manage to catch her name all assisted us today .They went beyond our expectations with friendly advice and exceptional service.Wouldnt hesitate to recommend this store.All three staff members are a credit to the employers.

Absolutely amazing staff we went today with Hugo the bulldog for nail clippers and the lady behind the counter said she would trim his nails for me I can not thank her enough. Even with a broken leg the lady was on the floor with Hugo triming his nails act of kindness goes along way highly recommended staff.Big thank-you from Hugo although he cried.

First time using this service and think it will be the last. I booked my 2 year old puppy in for his groom. After paying the deposit which I would imagine it would come straight off the total bill I was told this was not the case on the day of his groom. I proceeded with the payment as it was not a problem. As for the payment of the deposit - I still did not receive it after 3 weeks until I had to go in and request for the refund to be returned. I can’t fault the groom itself as they trimmed his fur fantastic, but as for the service, I would say otherwise.

Staff are always so friendly when I shop here. They have a wide range of products for most pets (hence the name I suppose). There is also a large car park so there's never any problem parking. Pets at home also have a 'card' which offers points when you make a purchase.

Great for furry pets. Lots of range of foods and equipment. Friendly staff.

My jack Russell Milo had found a dead vole while out walking before I could stop him he chomped it down in a flash after checking with the vet(cost emergency consultation £55.) we went to pets at home there advice was so much better and comforting. There advice was to whatch and waight if he had problems passing it go vet. Other give him light diet lots of water fresh each time gently massage his tummy.Pamper pouch loved it up for a week.
