Sound of Harris is a fantastic brand new luxury holiday cottage in the south eastern tip of Harris. A romantic sanctuary on the edge of the world and a gem for the discerning traveller.We hurtled over The Golden Road from the ferry port at Tarbert down to Borrisdale over inlets of grey rock and fertile machair, fringed by florid seaweeds edging to the Minch and the Atlantic Ocean. Our destination was a holiday cottage that was to be our home for a long weekend on a remote island on the very edge of Europe.The most striking impression of the new cottage is a fusion of Californian beach house with a mid-20th century British interior design beamed into the midst of a Gaelic crofting community. We knew straight away that we had come to a very special and fascinating place. Sound of Harris is the latest addition to the range of high quality accommodation available on the island. Once bywords an archaic and remote wilderness, Harris today is has become a premier destination for the adventurous and experienced traveller. Harris is an idyll of peace and tranquillity with a local population radiating warmth and quiet confidence.Sound of Harris a very special island escape for couples. The photographs do not prepare you for the experience of walking through the door and seeing the house and the view! Just an amazing place where I was too relaxed to even read a book and those who know me know I love to relax with a good book. Cosy nights in front of the log burner with a glass of red was just the perfect new years eve x

Incredible place to stay, especially in the middle of a storm watching the weather come in over the sound. Well stocked and equipped with everything you could possible need for a stay away from home. Rob and Carol are very accomodating and helpful, such a lovely couple and their shop in Leverburgh is well worth a visit.

Stunning location and accommodation is outstanding.The hosts respect your privacy whilst ensuring absolutely everything you need is provided and they are so friendly and caring .This is by far the best place we have ever stayed and we hope to make return visits for many years to come .Thankyou Sound of Harris for making our 40th anniversary stay so special .

We spend three very relaxing nights in this house. We were amazed by its cleanliness, stunning views and decoration. Double bed very comfy. Luxurious shower, kitchen well equipped. Practically all the tools are there and more. Nice job. Thanks!

We had a fantastic week in this accommodation in Harris. The house was very comfortable and clean, beautifully decorated, well equipped and in a stunning location. Owners very friendly and helpful but respectful that it is your holiday space. We fell in love with Harris and are already looking forward to another visit.

What a fantastic place to stay! We spent 4 nights in October and had a very peaceful & relaxing time. The view from the windows was spectacular; there are lovely walks all around and the home itself was perfect - nothing has been forgotten; from beautiful designer books & magazines to read to a telescope so you can really see the view; from White company Linen to hiking sticks; the kitchen even includes cookery books & a slow cooker; We will definitely be back. thank you to Carol & Rob for a lovely holiday.
