been waiting for a good, reasonably priced sushi spot in dalston for years - so was eager to try Zay out the moment it openeddon't be put off by the lowkey signage or interior, or by the fact that (somewhat confusingly) this place serves Spanish / Mexican cuisine alongside Japanese - this is SERIOUSLY GOOD sushi .. far, far, far superior to anything else you can get in this area, take-out or otherwiseThis is fresh fish, properly seasoned and cooked rice and well crafted sushi made by an experienced sushi chef, it is not your average stock cheap take away sushi.As it turns out, the Mexican and Spanish food that they serve here too at La Sagrada is super tasty as well.. Try a couple of tacos on the side of your sushi.. trust me, you won't be disappointed, they're way better than the ones you get next door and taste like the Tacos I've had in Los AngelesSeriously, give this new place a go if you're after banging, reasonably priced sushi - eat in or take away, both great

I had this lovely Oval Poké Bowl and it tasted very fresh and yummy ✨ Definitely will be back again for more dishes on the menu! The price was very reasonable too :) The service was spotless

Amazing place. It's quite unassuming on first impressions, but is packed with some of the best sushi I've ever had. The staff are very kind as well. They had lots of vegan options too!

The pumpkin katsu and avocado Uramaki rolls were the best thing I’ve put in my mouth since moving to the UK 9 months ago. I honestly nearly cried it was that amazing. Service from Zay is outstanding too! 10/10 would recommend

Very good sushi place with plenty of options available. Food quality is plenty and two options with a starter (dessert and two drinks) was ample for two of us. We ordered king prawns as starter, Tempura roll - Volcano and Maguro panko roll. They both had around 10 pieces each and the starter had 6 pieces.They do have dine in options available however it's limited seating and quite a small space next door to the main restaurant, if all of the seating is used up then it can feel quite crowded; luckily no one apart from us was eating that day.I would 100% recommend the food, if I didn't live far away I would come back to try out other dishes.

This place is at present a proper hole in the wall, in the best way. Very basic set-up to eat in. But the sushi is phenomenal, amazingly well priced, and the staff are all lovely. Could be a real gem for this neighbourhood. Long may it thrive!

Absolute gem! Best vegan sushi I’ve ever had! Our friend had the salmon platter and also loved, what an amazing place!!!! The waiter was so, so kind and helpful as well, gave us recommendations and advised us to order a bit less when we had chosen too many items (and said we could always order more later, but we didn’t need to).Can’t wait to come back! Again, amazing vegan options! The inari nigiri is a dreeeam!
