Initially Blackpool Adult Social Care stated that my mother needed one hour's care every morning, seven days a week, at around 10am.They invited tenders for the position and iCare said they could do this, so were employed. The care worker allocated to visit my mum every morning was so disrespectful towards her, it was disgusting. This woman had a round of people she visited daily and planned her visits to suit herself, so she wouldn't have to travel back and forth, irrespective of the time she actually turned up. Sometimes she would arrive more than an hour early and when I questioned this her response was that they didn't get travel expenses! So in effect it really didn't matter if she upset the people she cared for, it was all about her. My poor dad was having to get my mum out of bed at 8.15 every morning, just incase she turned up really early, which she did more often than not.But that wasn't the only thing that bothered my dad and I. This woman was extremely coarse. She would shout at my mum, bend down, point to her behind and tell my mum to kiss her a**e! She laughed at my mum's bust, laughed at her when she had no teeth in, was loud and brash. She regularly had her phone out showing me or my dad Facebook photos, and also messenger chats between her and her boss Philip. My mum has always been lady like and wasn't used to such behaviour and now having moderate Alzheimer's, she really didn't know how to react, and would often laugh to humour this woman. She was tasked with undressing my mum, showering her, getting dressed, then doing a little tidy up after herself in the bathroom, this would sometimes take 15 minutes...! How? If I ever shower my mum, the showering itself would take a good twenty minutes, making sure she was thoroughly clean. Most times it was clear that she hadn't showered my mum properly as she would leave smears of excrement on the towel. And she never cleaned up after herself.I recently got in touch with my mum's social worker, who agreed that this wasn't good enough and we agreed to ask for another care worker from iCare (as all the other ladies that visited, whilst this woman was on leave, were lovely), but apparently there was no one else available. It also transpired that iCare had decided, a short while into caring for my mum, that she only needed 30 minutes care per day, so THEY took it upon themselves, without consulting anyone, to cut her visits down! After the social worker had made these enquiries, the manager made a spot check at my parents home after this woman had been one day.I don't know what the upshot was, but ever after she was quieter, barely spoke to my dad, didn't blow dry my mum's hair as she had done every week previously, she was generally off" with them. It made for a very uncomfortable atmosphere. So the alternative was to start afresh with a different care company. The council put out for tender and got three companies offering their services

If there was a possibility of giving a minus score for this company, I would. We've witnessed astonishing levels of incompetence with their care of my father-in-law who is severely disabled and wheelchair bound after having a major stroke three years ago. For two days running they didn't check to see if he was clean after moving him, leaving him to sit in his own mess. It took two hours for the carers to come back to clean him up. The company wouldn't change a carer who didn't like my father-in-law, and he was told that he had to have this particular carer or he would have to leave the care of the company. This, as anyone who has older relatives will know, just causes severe mental stress to the patient and those around him. This company should be struck off. An absolute disgrace, and to think that they get paid for this. Incredible. If you care at all about your relatives wellbeing, I would avoid I Care at all costs.

Lack communication in many ways. Some of the carers are insensitive. And don't listen. Been advised by medical professionals to seek private company . Need to get a,degree in business customer experience

Would give 0 if I could. Disgusting care of my Mum and they have taken lots of money off her. When I have complained to someone called Phillip (as advised in the folder provided.) My mum pleaded with a carer called Claire to stay with her to which this 'care' worker has said 'you don't even pay for the service anyway so why does it matter?!'1 - my mum was paying for all of it2 - even if she wasn't is this an acceptable way to 'care' for an extremely vulnerable and ill person? Please never EVER pay for this vile service- who knows what they are capable of saying or doing.Unsure if there are multiple areas but I am speaking about the Blackpool area.
