Lovely off the track, Oldbury on Severn.Great area for walking your dog and the Anchor is always friendly with a good range of breasts and food.Plenty of space in or out.We had a light lunch outside in a downpour. Remained perfectly dry under table umbrella whilst our lab loved watching the rain

Have visited twice for a light lunch & have been disappointed both times. The starter pate with piccalilli had a very small amount of ciabatta toast, not enough for the portion of pate. A basket of bread & butter was needed in addition to the ciabatta toast. I should have learnt my lesson from ordering this starter previously. But I do enjoy pate but this recent time the underside of the pate was much darker than the rest, so it was probably the dried end piece. In my opinion this starter is not good value. No Guinness sold here. Although we frequent local pubs regularly for lunch we will not be returning.

Food was lovely but I have to say the staff need to know their craft! When I asked the waiting staff what the seasonal veg were I was reluctantly told oh

Very disappointed. Sat in the garden with my elderly father who is unable to sit on a picnic style bench. My wife asked at the bar if she could bring a chair from inside for him to sit in and was told it wasn’t allowed. Unfortunately we had ordered a drink before we were given this news. However, we didn’t stay and went to another pub (also called the anchor) in Thornbury to eat our evening meal and where, incidentally, chairs and cushions are willingly provided. Needless to say we won’t be returning.

We had lunch here before booking in to Thornbury Castle for the night. Best venison burger I have had and definitely in my top 5 burgers - served with camembert and redcurrent jelly, really delicious and perfectly cooked. Lovely garden, friendly staff. Would recommend

A pub from.my childhood revisited with partner and family. Welcoming staff, great location by the banks of the river Severn. Venison cottage pie was excellent, as was the venison burger. Lovely big log fire.

What pub these days don’t allow dogs and children in for food and beers on a Saturday when the pub is quarter full. Rude staff to boot. The 7 of us went into Thornbury and spent £150 on a meal and beers. Good luck to you as a business, clearly stuck in the 70’s still.

I absolutely adore this place! The garden is the best part if the weather cooperates! The food is fantastic! Highly recommend the garlic bread! Excellent service. Gorgeous setting! Worth the drive for sure
