Carolyn Rose School of Sewing - Fabric Shop, Sewing Machines and Classes

I love the 6-week intermediate sessions! Our teacher, Emma is so knowledgeable and supportive. I have now done 5 6-week blocks with the same lovely group of ladies. As well as supporting each other, we have lots of fun and share our sewing tips and tricks. Highly recommended.

I did the 6 week sewing for beginners in November and December 2021. We made a tote bag, cushion cover and makeup bag. I learnt so much in a friendly and supportive environment and immediately signed up for the subsequent Dressmaking for Beginners course. Carolyn is a fantastic teacher with an enormous amount of experience to share.

I attended 2 courses at Carolyn Rose School of sewing this year; beginners and beginners to dressmaking. As a total novice at the start of the year, Carolyn has given me the skills and support to make many of my own clothes. She is knowledgeable and am excellent teacher. I thoroughly enjoyed all the classes and was sad when they ended as they became the highlight of my week. The sewing shop is brilliantly stocked with exciting things and I even bought my first sewing machine there.

A lovely selection of fabrics. Do ask, you never know what they might have tucked away. Knowledgeable staff. I find sewing to be the perfect combination of technical challenge, a desire for precision, and a huge sense of achievement.At the start of the year I could just about run a straight stitch on a machine, but I struck lucky finding Carolyn Rose School of Sewing.Initially I attended a 6 week course, picking up the necessary skills to understand commerical patterns, cut out and sew some pyjama bottoms.I subsequently signed up for adhoc time to sew" sessions

I had the best day on the beginners tote bag course. Carolyn was a brilliant teacher, the explanations were clear and instructions were easy to follow. Having a smaller group also ensured that we all got the help we needed. I would absolutely recommend the course to anyone wanting to have a go at sewing. It helped give me the confidence and kick to get started with a hobby I have always wanted to take up.I have since bought a machine from Carolyn, who helped to advise me on what was really best for me and my level rather than the hard sell on the most expensive item like some stores.

Absolutely first class 6 week beginners class making a Tote, Piped Cushion Cover and Sugar Bottom bag. Now started a beginners dressmaking course. Carolyn is really patient and helpful.

I have been and still am attending courses with Carolyn and it has been a success.I started with absolutely no knowledge and I feel confident I am getting all the tools" I need to know how to sew properly. I am currently finishing a pair of pants and will probably start exploring personal designs.Carolyn is very patient

Absolutely love this shop, is has everything a home sewer could possibly need from a wide range of fabrics to sewing machines and accessories. Plus, the expert guidance from the staff is always helpful.

I have attended two courses, the Adult Beginners Sewing course and Introduction to Dressmaking. Both courses were excellent, Carolyn is extremely knowledgeable and creates a friendly environment where you learn many practical skills. I loved the classes and now regularly visit the shop for all my sewing needs. I am looking forward to attending another course soon!
