Saw the spitfire after looking at the knife angel. The museum was lovely, will go again to see the Titanic exhibition.

In the lower ground floor basement of the potteries museum and cafe was an unexpected surprise. A Mark 16 original spitfire donated to Stoke-on-Trent by the RAF in 1953. Enough space to walk fully around, a cut out of a Merlin engine and an upset level which gives a good history of the Supermarine company which built them and it’s founder and creator of the Spitfire.Nice, clean, self contained area with a no frills cafe adjacent

Welcome to the home of the City’s Spitfire. The RAF donated Spitfire RW388 to Stoke-on-Trent in 1972. The aeroplane is a symbol of great design and engineering. It represents the link between Stoke-on-Trent and the Spitfire’s designer, Reginald Joseph Mitchell.Mitchell was born and educated in north Staffordshire. He designed 24 different aeroplanes during his career including flying boats, high-speed racing seaplanes, and the Supermarine Spitfire.

They have done a fantastic restoration job of the spitfire and there is an excellent display to go with it. Well worth a visit for this part of the museum but there's so much more to see.
