Great Chinese restaurant. Reasonably priced (prawn crackers, a portion of rice, chips, two mains and three drinks was £33). It was quiet when we went in. Food came out piping hot and was delicious.It's one of only three places we found in Stornoway that was open for dinner on a Sunday (though we ate there on a Monday). Lost a star as other than salt and pepper there's no condiment (I asked for sweet chilli as a dipping sauce with my main).Would recommend Golden Ocean and would dine there again.

Great friendly service, yummy food and a quite full for a Wednesday night when we went. Would go again, couldn’t ask more from a chinese!

We came all the way from Belgium for our holiday on Lewis & Harris. We ordered 3 dishes by phone. Our order 'number 2' would be ready in 15 to 20 min. When we arrived the following numbers already receiving their food. We saw all people come and go, while we had to wait 1 hour and 15 min. I had the feeling, because we were 'foreigners', we had to wait extra long. When I asked if our order perhaps got lost, the girl at the counter said they had to prepare the noodles again. We were then all alone in the takeaway. Afterwards when I was eating , I found a piece of glass in my food. So beware, if you are visiting Lewis...don't order there! I have never ever had such a bad experience. The furniture and floor are also far from clean.

Expensive, small portions, sit in is just take away fast food on a plate. No atmosphere. Over keen staff. Wouldn't go again even if it was the only place open on a Sunday. Awful.

So...being one of only a few Asian style restaurants on the island the Golden Ocean doesn't have much competition and unfortunately it showed, when we ordered the other day. Now we have used Golden Ocean before and the food has been just about OK at best but on this occasion it seriously let it self down. Waiting over an hour for our order which didn't arrive (I left after an hour) when we were told it would be 15 mins, was very dissapointing. If the food was normally amazing and the service was polite then maybe just maybe I would just put it down to one of those things but it's normally not and the service is always bad at best! It's not hard to be good on an island of only one Chinese restaurant!!!! But its managed to be poor, which is a shame.

Ordered beef curry.Was like eating rubber pieces. The sauce was very thick, like goop. Did not taste great. Definitely not fresh.Chips were nice and a generous portion.Not many choices in the area but a curry from Tesco would be a better option.

This was an amazing meal. First time outside of Hong Kong I had ramen and it was really tasty. Would have preferred bigger noodles and larger pieces of veg but was very tasty. I also had duck and it was perfectly cooked. Staff was very attentive and the value was great.

Friendly staff, had a nice chicken chow mein with my onion intolerance accommodated with no problems, and a lovely mint lemonade complete with garnishes.
