National Tyres and Autocare - a Halfords company

I visited for new tyre fitting after ordering online through one of the partner website. The appointment was available quickly and all was handled professionally. The staff was courteous, knowledgeable and took good care of car. I asked for additional work rebalancing another wheel and charge was very very reasonable. My overall experience with this particular garage was really well compared some horror stories I have heard about Halfords autocentres. Recommended.

I arrived 10mins before as advised when booking. At 10mins past my booking time, my car had still not been looked at. Staff were really polite. Clearly a system failure with bookings and workload. In my opinion if a booking system is used then the time you are booked in for, is the time you get seen. Not a different time. Especially as tyre fitting doesn't vary greatly in time taken per wheel. It should (is) fairly easy to predict workload. Customers who pre book should be prioritised immediately at the time booked. I don't think I will use these again. Instead I shall return to KwikFit. Happy to pay extra for prompt accurate service. Alternatively just make it first come first served. Then it wouldn't be an issue.After 1 Hr I was informed that 2 of the tyres that had been delivered were correct and two were the wrong size! My main question at this point was when booked in for 1500 why did it take an hour to realise the wrong tyres were waiting to be fitted. Indeed one tyre had already been fitted. Absolutely not the way to do business. Processes that could / should be followed are not. I would imagine that when this message of complaint lands, that nothing will be done about it. Instead plumping for a one off miserable customer. However I return to my earlier point that it took over 15mins before my car was even moved to have tyres fitted. Then another 45 mins to discover that the tyres ordered the day before were incorrect. This customer is not happy. Time is the most expensive commodity, and today national tyres have used 1.5hours of my time to achieve nothing. Other than to check stock that should have already been checked. Standards of service are extremely poor.Upon calling customer services I was once again greeted by a wait, something that appears to be a Halfords speciality. Once the call was answered the representative was again very polite. I have been informed that my refund may take 3-5 days, which I would imagine is standard, but seeing as I can pay instantaneously , and world wide banking allows instant money transfers, I find this a little unacceptable once more. Especially as I now have to seek 4 tyres and fitting at a different establishment seeing myself out of pocket again while my cash is sitting in Halfords bank account.

Great service from Tom and the team … took my car in with a puncture and they changed the tyre and had the car back in the road within 1 hour. Really polite to deal with, showed me what was wrong with the tyre and I found it to be a really stress free service thank you!

Bought four Pirelli Scorpion tyres for my Land Rover Discovery. Paid the extra for damage repair/ replacement. After picking up a glint on the rear NS they replaced it at a “reduced” rate. Couldn’t refit the spare under the car as they were using an air gun to tighten the tyre winch and so broke the cogs inside it. On Friday 20th October 2023 we got stuck in the floods that occurred and the same tyre picked up another glint. We got to the ipswich brach but they didn’t want to help-as it was close to 6pm. So we came back at 08:30 the next day to be told by the same person that they were too busy all day. Phoned around and got Beccles tyre centre to replace for less than National offered under their “warranty” deal. We have spent hundreds of pounds with them. Got left without any help when we needed it, third tyre warranty is a rip off and monkey handed mechanics cost me a fortune to get my spare wheel winch replaced. Thanks for nothing guys. I’m disabled and unable to walk at all, we had small kids in the car and my wife. Shameful

My wife ordered her tyres online took her car in & she said how polite & professional they were. Didn't feel intimated at all. Gave her a call once car was ready. Excellent service.

I had a flat tyre so booked at ipswich with Halfords on Sunday at 3pm but turned up and found the location didn't even open on Sundays.How can you have a booking system that allows you to book a location that's never open!?!?Rebooked on Monday morning at another location at 9am, turned up and they didn't have the tyre in stock. Said it will be there at 11am, didn't arrive, then said it would be there at 1pm. Didn't arrive. Tyre only arrived at 3pm.Wasted a day waiting. How can you book if the location is closed or if the venue doesn't have the tyre in stock. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone.Massively disappointed in the systems Halfords are using. Complete and utter rubbish.
