I would not recommend this company. What we received was certainly nothing like what was promised or how we were treated. Moving almost 100 miles and then to be left in an empty house was a terrible way to be treated. We then had to pay AGAIN for our property to be re delivered. The weather was windy but they made the decision to set off and then when the delivery truck had got to our new home they would not wait a further 10 minutes for us to get the keys and unload before they turned back leaving us in an empty house with NOTHING. We were then held to ransom to pay for redelivery to receive our property. The drivers/removal lads were the only ones bothered to apologise, nothing from the owners. My advice is to avoid this company…

Shires have been absolutely brilliant throughout our move from Edinburgh to the Barnsley area. They arrived at 9pm sharp on Monday morning and by 5pm they had fully packed our house, loaded it up, AND taken a trip to a storage unit 10 miles away. Delivery today was done within a few hours, and equally as quick and professional.Whenever I've spoken to people in the office (not that I needed too much but we did have several issues with our completion dates on the new house), they've been polite and friendly - even getting to know us as soon I called, but that was down to it being an Edinburgh dialing code.Price wise their quote was about in the middle of the range we had, but their flexibility with regards to storing our stuff (if needed) was what swayed it for us - it's a little difficult to choose a removal firm if it's your first time moving, so we were a bit overwhelmed with having to get multiple quotes, estimate volumes and try to get bookings etc. BUT we cannot fault Shires in their job.Thank you, and if we ever do move again (it won't be for another ten years) we'll certainly come to Shires first.

I can't thank The Shires Removals enough for making what was supposed to be the most stressful day ever, so easy and straightforward. Darren and Kyle were amazing, they were efficient, friendly and gave us useful advice about our furniture. I would definitely recommend them and would use them again. 10/10

Be very wary especially of the insurance package they advise you to buy, no matter what they lose or break you have to have cast iron proof that they have packed it and removed it! Packed boxes with very scant inventory are not sufficient (none of our boxes were marked with a good description of what was in them) , please make sure they write in detail exactly what is in every box! They lost several expensive light fittings of ours and now claim they know nothing about it and the Insurance firm won’t cover it because it wasn’t marked in which box it was packed. I feel very let down by this firm after we paid them thousands of pounds. Please don’t let them let you down, be very aware.

We would recommend Shires Removals for their outstanding service. They moved us out of our 4 storey house and put our contents in storage. Nothing was too much trouble for Danny and his team. We expected to use their storage facility for 2-3 months, but due to our original house purchase falling through, this became 15 months.Luckily, the cost of their storage was cheaper than their competitors’ quotes. All of our possessions arrived safely, without a single item damaged. Towels & bedding etc were fresh and dry and didn’t even need washing on arrival.They only charged a small & very reasonable extra amount for the extra mileage to our different house purchase.Danny was also on the lorry that delivered to us (this time with Dave) and again they were really friendly, hard working & helpful. They were very professional, covering all our new carpets before entering the house. Overall 5 star service.

Just a thank you for the traffic today, having blocked the westbound traffic on Doncaster Road, backing traffic up all the way from Nostell to Wakefield.Very impressive!Any particular reason your driver didn't feel like using the driveway that was clearly available at the property?Thanks to you, hospital appointments were delayed.An absolutely prime bit of consideration for countless road users today.Edit: Delighted by your response and the knowledge that as long as it's legal it doesn't matter how many people miss hospital appointments because of you or how many emergency vehicles struggle to squeeze through, or how much of an inconvenience you cause countless other road users.Bravo once again. Speaks for itself, really.Mayhaps use the correct vehicle for the job? Bleh. I've made my point.

Used this company for a recent house move. I found them to be no nonsense, reliable and professional from booking the removals, receiving the invoice and on removal day itself.House moves are stressful enough, these guys take some of that stress away.Thanks!.

Shires responded quickly to our request for a quotation and visited our home to perform a thorough inspection of the work involved within a few days of our first telephone call. They were friendly and helpful from our first conversation. It was necessary to re-arrange our moving date, but Shires made it very clear that this could be done as long as we knew our deadline for doing so.The team that carried out our job were brilliant! Friendly, careful with our belongings, efficient, and double-checked if in any doubt. All details and procedures were carefully explained to us throughout the process.When the time came to deliver our belongings from storage, Shires were nice again, very accommodating.Some removals firms only perform an evaluation of the job by means of a video call. Shires did a thorough hone visit which is crucial to getting the job right. Nothing was damaged in transit. Everything was delivered with care. The price for the work was very fair considering we were moving a decent distance.I would have complete confidence in using Shires again and would highly recommend them to anyone considering a move. The office team are ALL very helpful and well informed. The removals team that we met were total diamonds. Keep them supplied in tea and a bacon butty and they will look after you! Shires were unavailable on the day we needed to move so I was a bit anxious about who would be able to move all our stuff. Shires offered excellent value for money and we're professional and helpful whenever I spoke to them. Because they were unavailable on our completion date, they were able to recommend Job Done which I was relieved about and that is who we used. They were professional, polite and delivered above and beyond from the moment they arrived at our house. Thank you so much for helping our move go so smoothly. I would recommend these guys to anyone.
