Hark To Bounty Inn
The village of Slaidburn is in a beautiful and peaceful part of Lancashire. The Hark to Bounty sits in the heart of the village and has a long history of importance here. We stayed one night and this was a real treat. The building has plenty of features including wooden beams and eclectic dispays in the bar. The staff are all friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable and functional, although expect a 1970s style bathroom with carpet and a shower over the bath. This is not a boutique hotel! We had towels and small tubes of shower gel and shampoo. The bedroom was fine, although the carpet was showing its age. We had a kettle, mugs and tea and coffee and a TV. The room was above the bar and we could hear customers until closing time at 23.00, then it was quiet, although as it was haymaking time farm vehicles were still passing later. The food was hearty and reasonably priced. There were two vegetarian options on the menu (no vegan option) and we had one each. They were both tasty and just what we needed after a long walk. Breakfast was basic but enough. There were no vegetarian sausages but we were happy with eggs on toast. Vegans could have had beans on toast. We also had packed lunches and the cheese on the sandwiches was very generous and gave us a good amount of energy for our long walk the next day.

Arriving alone after a long day cycling I popped in here while waiting for the youth hostel over the road to open. Little did I know just how much this place would go to my heart. Immediately the landlady's big smile and welcome made me feel welcome. I was instantly made to feel like a local. Nothing too much trouble. The cask beer is in outstanding form. Later that evening I returned for Pork Loin and black pudding covered in bacon wow!!. It was that good I returned for a hearty breakfast and on the Friday night, an incredible fish Friday deal. Oh and on one night, there was a brass band playing! Everything is very reasonably priced and of a high standard. Great staff, great old building. A must visit.

No complaints about the food but the women behind the bar was constantly rude to us, after saying we could eat she tried to shame us for not booking several times. Half of our party were children and they all felt really uncomfortable and upset. Would never go back

It was quiet when I was in so lacking atmosphere but it is a lovely village pub offering a friendly welcome to a passing cyclist in need of nourishment!

Quaint 70's decorated historic pub in an area of outstanding beauty, so attracts walkers with dogs. Food excellent and the service 5 star. Check for food availability and times as we go for Sunday Lunch regularly.

Look this pub is desperately in need of a refurb but I know some people like this old untouched style. As a pub it's fine just not for me. As a restaurant it needs work, the soup was really nice but the Sunday roast have veg cooked like a pub from days well passed. We were really disappointed at the taste but the prices were very reasonable and maybe with an increase in price they could improve the quality of the food. However I don't know the local area and maybe they can't increase their prices. Aime people seem to really like this place from the reviews but definately not for us.

Wonderful pub, full of character, and hasn't been modernised to death. Lovely pint of Lancaster Blonde and superb homemade food...Steak and Ale Pie is just delicious ! A regular stop when we're in Bowland.
