Glorious day we had when strolling up to the Beacon and the Iron Age settlement, only disappointment was the extent to which the golf course had encroached over the entire settlement. Shame and difficult to absorb the atmosphere of the place when golf trolleys are passing by with the constant shouting of “Fore”.

Lovely area for a walk anytime of year, but a frosty Autumnal day with clear views is particularly good. Be mindful of golfers and keep to the paths around the edge.

Well worth a look. West side of the Cotswolds, just a few miles from Stroud. Painswick is a quaint little village, with this beacon just north, overlooking five counties. Looking south you can see the seven bridge in the distance, and a nice location for a stroll and a few landscape photographs. Not so user friendly for push chairs, or wheelchair users, no toilets also.

Lovely Sunday morning walk up to the Beacon and surrounding area, the views from the Beacon are fabulous, Gloucester from a high and the Severn snaking out of the Shire in the distance,

What can I say.... is this my favourite view from the Cotswold Edge? It has to be a top contender. A trig point sits on an ancient rampart with all round views. A crazy" and fascinating golf course flows by

It is a very quiet and even large place. You can take long walks, runs and bike rides with friends. You can play in the vast green fields. Then there is an extraordinary view as you arrive at the top you can see the city of Gloucester and Cheltenham.I highly recommend it to people who love nature and walk observing the wonderful things that nature itself leaves us.

Really great walks here with stunning views of slad valley on one side and forest of dean on the other. You can see Welsh hills and the Malverns on a clear day. Great for sledging in the winter.
