We first approached BlueSKY nearly 4 years ago when we were seeking independent financial advice as to when we might be able to retire. Rob met with us and after thorough investigation of our pensions and accounts produced a report for us outlining our current situation and how we could work towards our favoured retirement date. In short he told us exactly what we needed to know & we have acted on his advice over the last few years. We will be approaching the stage where we probably need a bit more assistance with the overseeing of our pensions and financial affairs now and I feel confident that Rob and BlueSKY will be able to give us the service we need for moving forward and the future.

In my own experience finding a credible, client orientated independent financial adviser is difficult. I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't attempt to engage the services of an adviser until I was a year short of retirement - truthfully way too late.I assembled some PowerPoint slides with a summary of the 15 or so pensions I had and created an Excel summary of my monthly financial requirements. I called two financial advisers from well known reputable firms I'd identified during a Google search. The standard response seemed to be a 30 minute telephone call where the adviser would say 'you should be OK John'. Whilst positive this isn't very useful as one needs to understand where the future income is going to come from to replace the salary one received before retirement and also how long would it last once paid/inflation considerations etc.To go beyond the 30 minutes worth of 'should be OK' involved the production of a report. One adviser quoted £2700 and another £4650 - neither adviser seemed able to describe how that report, should I proceed would assist my retirement planning process.I asked around in my circle of friends and a former colleague recommended BlueSky. BlueSky were a breath of fresh air with a refreshingly different approach. Like the others, BlueSky also started off with a 30 minute MS Teams to understand what pensions/investments I had, what they were in practical terms and my personal circumstances. In complete contrast, no conclusion was offered initially, I was advised there would be a further 1 hour meeting to present the initial findings - still with no charge.The 2nd meeting was fascinating and exactly what one needs when planning for retirement - a graphical chart that showed the level of expected income and depletion of investments all the way out to being aged 100. Crystal clear and exactly what one needs. Clearly Bluesky had put considerable effort into getting this far and gave me confidence to commission them to produce a report (£1700 @ in my case which was quite complex) where I could understand the detail, assumptions made and risk considerations.Now as a client of Bluesky I receive regular updates, complete transparency of what is happening and the ability to seek sound advice when needed. Highly recommended.
