Hypo mania can have a detrimental affect on ur mental state. It can happen to anyone. But there is help out there. If the hypo mania is early diagnozed then with the correct medication a person can lead a normal life. But its essential that once a person is in remission with a mood stablizer then its imperative that they remain on the mood stabilizer. It is only in collaboration with ur consultant that they may reduce the mg of the mood stabilizer. Its so important that u dont decrease the dozage urself even though u feel well enough because the hypomania may return. Even though hypomania is not as serious as mania it can still be just as bad. Usually what happens is upon referral by ur gp then it maybe better if u spend a short stay or more to tobernaveen to assess ur condition even more. These doctors and nurses are specifically trained in treating clients with mental health issues such as bi polar, personality disorder, pstd, schizophrenia which can be more complex. Schizophrenia can include hearing voices, hallucinations.,self harm,agigation, etc. Hypo mania can be just as bad if it is not diagnosed and dealt with quickly. Some clients can be reluctant in spending time in certain facilities such as tobernaveen but once the client is assessed and prescribed the correct medication then they can be discharged. Hypomania can affect the neurotransmitters in the brain which shuts part of it off. The mood can fluctuate between high and low. With the help of a mood stablizer such as lithium or depakote can gradually release the serotonin levels in the brain and as quickly within a few weeks under monitoring by drs,nurses etc the client can be discharged back into the community. Its essential u keep all appointments with ur consultant psychiatrist who will continue to monitor ur mental state. Its so important that u are truthful with them and inform them of any severe side effects u may be having.
