Thornaby

The best station if you want the south end of Stockton which lies a ten minute walk across the River Tees. Reasonable facility, but what you see today is a car park occupying what used to be the station building. Looking east toward Middlesbrough lies scrub land where up till the 1980s stood a motive power depot and an enormous shunting yard.

An amazing station. Frequent services by northern and hourly by transpennie express. If you live in Stockton use this station.

Lovely station and northern trains are a bit dated now. reasonable prices

Frequent trains and clean, fairly decent facilities. Ticket office and heated waiting room located in station building on westbound platform, where there's also a small shop serving snacks and hot drinks (though nothing decaf). Bike rack, small car park and pick up/drop off area between platforms. Generally fairly busy, with trains to/from Manchester Airport being especially popular.

I went to pick up my train tickets this afternoon and the guy who served me was so helpful and lovely. It really makes a difference when people go out of their way to make your day.The name on the receipt was Andy.

A typical, small railway station that has been recently renovated to provide a pleasant indoor waiting area. However, this is not open 24/7 and thus may be closed when leaving early or arriving late.

This station has a lot more frequent services than Stockton but you can be waiting quite a long time on the weekends. There is also a cafe, a ticket office and a place to sit inside if the weather is bad. The train station is accessible by bus and other forms of transport.

Had to change at Thornaby train station on our way from Whitby to York. We didn't fancy the 50 minute wait between connections in the station, so we asked Thomas, the ticket master, if he knew where there was a pub or an eaterie nearby, in which we could waste some time. He pointed us to 'The Dubliner', across the road from the station but only really accessible via the bridge, which had many steps. He noticed that we were laden down with suitcases, thus making the short journey awkward. He therefore, without us asking, offered to look after our luggage. What a bloody superstar he is! If every station had a 'Thomas', people would have more reason to praise the rail network than to slate it. Thank you Thomas. You are a gentleman and a credit to your company. I hope you get to see this review, because you made our brief wait much more bearable, and also gave us faith in a company that seems to be filled with rude, ignorant pigs. Send Thomas down to the Midlands and Southern Rail Networks please. They could do with a fair bit of training from him.

Myself and my partner have just had the pleasure of a changeover at this little station on our way home to Tamworth from Whitby.As we had a 45 (ish) minute wait for our connecting train we asked the ticket seller, Thomas, whether there was a pub nearby.Not only did he point us in the direction of a very nice and reasonably-priced establishment named The Dubliners but he also took in our luggage for us so we could use the footbridge across the track, sparing us a longer walk in the dark.It is rare nowadays to receive such a thoughtful, personal service and it certainly didn't go unnoticed or unappreciated.Thanks Thomas!

Station is a bit small but bring huge convenience to people with various equipments and lovely staff
