A fantastic family business. We had a great experience renting a narrowboat with them. Good communication, great boats that were well equipped and comfortable, and they really went out of their way to make sure we had the best trip. I also really liked starting to Gilwern - it’s well positioned on the canal to visit the locks and tunnel over a 3 night trip.

Castle Narrowboats rescued our holiday!Car broke down eight miles from the boatyard. Not only did they come out and transport us to the boat, the remarkable Anthony arranged for our car to be taken to a local garage and repaired while we enjoyed our holiday. Top service!Boat was immaculate as ever and we really enjoyed our leisurely cruise down to Five Locks basin.Thanks to a brilliant family business!

We had a lovely 7 day holiday on Dryslwyn castle (2 adults 3 children age 5-10 and a dog). This was our first narrow boat holiday. The canal was spectacularly beautiful every inch of the way to Brecon which we managed to get to and back in a week. Locks and tunnel were really fun for both us and the children (no one fell in!!). This was also mixed with some long stretches of just boating and enjoying the wonderful scenery- truly beautiful for every bit of the journey. We went in April so saw lots of lambs and ducklings. The boat was really well equipped- the only thing I could think of that we needed was a small stool for the sink as youngest (age 5) couldn’t reach but this was not a big issue. Everything was so cleverly arranged to make a lovely space for day and evening. The boat was so clean and comfortable, everything looked really well looked after and fresh and was all working. The team at castle narrowboats were really friendly and gave us a really good tour of the boat and a “driving lesson” before we set off. I would 100% recommend them.

A very positive experience. The electric narrowboat was a very tranquil and fume free experience. The boat was well fitted out with lots of equipment thoughtfully added. Friendly and efficient customer service. The scenery north to Brecon and south to Goytre Wharf was outstanding.

Lovely holiday on the canal with our two dogs.Slight issue with using an electric narrow boat, but Joe was with us within the hour.Only negative comment - always being aware of needing to charge up.
