A lovely place for brisk walk around the beautiful garden. Feeding the 100's of ducks at the pond was awesome !.

Always such a peaceful and tranquil place to visit and often overlooked if you want to have a quiet drink surrounded by beautiful gardens. The bar is now open after the lockdown and its a great place to enjoy a bit of refreshment. If you haven't been before, you are missing a little piece of Yorkshire that is draped in history.

Enjoyed a lovely round walk through the naturalistic grounds with many interesting ancient gnarled trees. Many have name tags and there's the most magnificent Oak at the end of the pond with a good information board about its history. I love all the old iron gates and ornate old gate posts, very interesting. It has a tranquil atmosphere and widespread views from the front of the house. The serving hatch was open for drinks on the terrace but the walled garden was closed on this occasion (Thursday lunchtime)I would recommend researching the history of Wortley Hall especially regarding Lady Mary Wortley Montagu who paved the way in finding a cure for smallpox, also the later history when it was occupied by the army during the second world war and subsequently bought by a cooperative of trade unionists for education and leisure. This very interesting and varied history makes a visit worthwhile. Free access to gardens, mostly good paths with plenty of seats to rest for anyone less able to walk. I use a walking stick and managed a good walk around. Access to the Hall's toilets is possible but it would be polite to purchase refreshments and use the opportunity to admire the interior's public areas.
