We were really disappointed with our recent visit. Absolutely no welcoming atmosphere at all. Taken to our table by a staff member who talked to us in a condescending manner, as if we were children, just because we are in our 70's. But we are far from stupid. One member of staff was sweating profusely, yet delivering food to diners. I realise this may not be helped, but it's surely not hygienic for him to be waiting table. The bar left a lot to be desired, staff seemed totally bored. One bitter available, which was vinegary, so was changed, but no other bitter available. Our food was ok, but not up to Himleys past standards. Cutlery was all marked, my fork still had dried food on it, not nice at all. Table was really sticky. We have eaten at Himley for years and always had lovely times there. Sad to say we won't be eating there again. Really upset about this, because we have lovely memories from past visits.Well, despite the general manager asking me to contact her, which I did by email, sending 2, as i didn't receive a response from the first one, but still no response from my second one either, several weeks after posting my review. Such a shame that it seems Himley's customer service is nowhere near as good as it used to be.

Great service from very lovely staff but the food was far above the standard for your ordinary Green King/ Chef and Brewer restaurant. Speaking to the lovely waitress afterwards I discovered that the chef is 19 years old and takes real pride in the food that he serves and it shows. I had the pork belly starter, followed by slow cooked venison shin main. Then had a sticky toffee cheesecake dessert. Have to say that it was all amazing! Unfortunately the chef had left before I was able to pass on my compliments but whoever you are I expect to see you on Masterchef one day. #serioustalent

Went for early evening meal - Tanya was our server and she was friendly and attentive. Food was good - only criticism is about the salad I had - £15 and really small portion - was nice though.

I've visited this establishment on a regular basis for the last 33 years. I have seen it change and develop through several guises during that time; Funky Forest and all sorts.33 years later and I still regularly visit once maybe twice a week. There is a pleasant vibe to the place which I like. I have eaten in the restaurant with family and friends often and have never been disappointed. The staff here are lovely; I know it's wrong to single out two particular people but Magda and Tarnia both deserve plaudits. Cool selection of music too.I've never stayed here as I live locally so therefore can't comment on the rooms

We stayed here for a night when attending a family party in the local area. The hotel is well located for easy access to the surrounding areas of Dudley and Wolverhampton. We paid under £50 for the night and it was good value for money. The rooms are a little tired and need a bit of a renovation, but overall a good place for a one or two nights stay. The bed is decent and fairly comfortable, the bathrooms are a little tired and you can see the evident steam/ water damage leading to the request that the bathroom door is left closed when using the showering. Our shower head didn't ping upwards a couple of times projecting water over the shower curtain but nothing that wasn't easily resolved. The rooms were clean and tidy owing to a good night's kip.The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant and bar area has had much more investment than the rooms and the food we had was great. The breakfast is good and a set price for hotel guests.Lovely sun trap beer garden to catch rays throughout most of the day.Free parking and plenty of space.WiFi pretty temperamental.Overall a good stay for the cheap price.

Staff on the bar, reception and restaurant were great. Menu is cheap pub food, at expensive pub food prices - small portions, and largely not very good - too much on the menu (think there were 8-10 'specials'), but that was forgivable, the room, while comfortable, was so run down though. Broken fittings / walls, peeling wallpaper, cobwebs, just generally a bit ick. I've attached some photos, which is nice of me, isn't it?

Considering it was breakfast with Santa, it wasn't particularly Christmasy! No Santa's grotto. Lacked atmosphere. Food was as good as usual but could have been so much better.
