The Green Man
Excellent little place. Convenient stop off on the west to east coast to coast drive from Wales to Lowestoft. Quality real Ale well kept and a bacon and brie baguette of generous proportion with a salad with a dressing grown in the pub garden of exquisite character. Friendly folk both in front and behind the bar.

Great Sunday lunch yet again, we and our four dogs were again made most welcome. Really tasty pork with plenty of veg and a gravy boat as well. My wife has a dairy allergy and often the reaction is sorbet" but the staff at The Green Man went the extra mile and we had apple tarte tartin.Brilliant."

The Green Man, Leighton Bromswold, EnglandYou can never go back... meaning 'things change'. Memories from the early 80s: the old Brit playing WWII songs on the piano; Sunday roast dinners; Yanks gathering in the back room on Thursday evenings playing popular 60's and 70's songs guitars and blind Nick (a Brit from St Neots) blasting on the trumpet; walking 2 miles to the pub in knee-deep snow to eat because of poor planning. I romanced my future wife in this pub. We visit this pub on average every decade. Today, a day away from our 40th wedding anniversary, the Green Man pub is a shadow of its former self. It seemed tired... in need of a clean... in need of energy. Before I arrived I said this pub will always be a 5-star. Nostalgia or echos of the past skewed my expectations. You can never go back. Lovely village. Happy memories. Overall: 3-star

Having read several good reviews about the food we stopped in to have lunch at the Green Man on our way to a funeral.A Charming pub, great welcome and service from the Landlord and staff. However they must have changed chefs or he was having a day off because the food we received whilst abundant in portion was really poorly cooked.I ordered a T bone steak cooked blue, it arrived med to well done, fried onions were heaped on top of the steak making it taste strongly of Onions. My Chips were actually burned on the outside and a horrid mushy texture inside, the peas were shriveled and gray looking really unappetizing. My Mother had battered Cod and Chips the cod batter was burnt and thus really tough to eat and her chips were also burned and not pleasant. My sister ordered a Smoked Salmon and prawn Salad, whilst the best of the three meals we ordered the prawns tasted very gamey and the lettuce wilted and starting to brown at the edges. If in the area I would without hesitation drop in for a beverage but I would have to have not eaten for several day to be tempted to order anything from the kitchen.I would have complained and sent back all of the meals except that we were on a tight schedule, something we actually pointed out the the landlord when we were ordering.

Really excellent drinker's" pub with good range of ales and lagers. Sunday food is very good with great portions of homemade food. Nice friendly chef who's open to sharing a half jar with you if you liked his food lovely location on the ridge with nice walks around."

Excellent atmosphere, especially for Christmas day. A bit chilli though, needs more heat in this weather. Choice of beers could be improved but the Landlord was good.

Been twice, once last year and today.First time I ordered the trout and it was a whole fish baked in the oven with a few seasonal vegetables.A WHOLE TROUT!! think it was only about £7.50 too!! Amazing.Today I had Whole Tail Scampi which was also amazing, the portions a very generous indeed. In fact it’s probably double what you would normally get elsewhere.Good selection of ales.
