Friars Walk Shopping Centre

Lots of eating places here. Sadly Cineworld has shut which was disappointing...and there is a Next and New Look and River Island. The University campus is on the other side of the road. However. not sure where all the customers are meant to be coming from...hardly the demographic as far as I could see...as usual the KFC is shocking in terms of service standards and hygiene...and of course there is the incredibly run down shopping centre adjoining it..and no public toilets to be seen...and very weird access to ridiculous steps and inadequate lifts...would like to come back in couple of years to see what state it is all in....

Some trendy shops but the scene on commercial st adjoining is pitiful. Sad indictment of modern shopping trends.

A very modern town centre shopping centre with a variety of different shops, bowling alley and a restaurant/cafe quarter. The shopping centre is also a convenient access point to the city's bus station.On our most recent visit we decided to park in the shopping centre car park. The car park was quite busy but we quickly found a parking space. Parking fees are reasonable for a city centre car park but you might be able to find cheaper parking at other sites. There were a several disabled parking spaces around the outside of the car park providing easy access to the lifts and stairs up to the shopping area.

It's a pity some of the shops are vacant. Otherwise, I would would of gave it a 5 star rating. However, I will give the car park a 5 star rating for the amount of disabled parking spaces, and they are quite wide.

More shops are starting to move in here but still closures the retraunt sector is very nice with landscaped views i have put the pictures i took here while in the area i walked through the centre to the te developed indoor market i thought it was ok as many people eating in the modernised well laid out market place i enjoyed my visit as i went to sèe a show at the amazing riverfront theatre worth a visit for sure

Many nice restaurants there ! And M & S foods haul & Saintsuberry & Costa ,KFC , Prezzo, Wagamama ,TGI Friday ,so on. The Next store had great selections of men's clothings at wonderful prices ! I found / bought so many cure made in U.K.birthday cards !! 4 for 3 ( price of 3 of equivalent price cards !! ) I loved the Costa upstairs there !! Very convenient w/ toilets !

We had shopping day in newport and we went to the friars walk to have look at what sales is on and to see if theres any new shops open. It was quite busy so we wasnt there very long and it was very chilly too. It could do with more ahops open.

There is nothing in Newport that is worth going for ...It was much better when all the shops were open (Woolworths , c & a , British home stores etc ) ... Now there is nothing there which is a shame , something should be done for people to come back into Newport..
