Holmwood House
The Holmwood house is lovely, buy the ticket at the cafe and they provide a 30 minute house tour every 30 minutes. They have a tea room too and a mini garden. This site is easily accessible by public transport, simply take bus number 6 from Glasgow City Center. Also 15 mins walk from here we could visit Linn Park as well as Linn waterfall.

It's such a stunning engagement period building. They've done such an amazing job restoring it, and the staff there are so informative.

This is an architectural and historical gem. Acquired by the National Trust it has been restored to its original state, a fantastical mid Victorian seat for a self made man and his family. Designed by Alexander Thompson in what he imagined to be a Greek style it is more reminiscent of the faux Egyptian style of the Art Deco period. There is a small tea room, and you can visit the Snuff Mill bridge about half a mile away along the White Cart river. There is a guided tour - very well done. Add this to a tour including the Macintosh house and the typical tenement (also NT) and you get a real feel for Victorian Glasgow.

Really interesting and lovely tour guide. Was impressed by the efforts to renovate the building. The cafe only serves drinks and cakes but they were good quality.

Great restoration work going on here. NT only had 1% of the original decor to work from but the progress to today's condition is phenomenal. The guided tour was around 50mins and very interesting as our guide clearly knew her stuff. We didn't use the Tearoom but inside and outside seating was available in a pleasant setting.

Well worth a trip if you are visiting or live in Glasgow. Designed by Alexander 'Greek' Thomson and a fantastic renovation project by the National Trust for Scotland keeping many of the original features and decorations. Half hourly tours well worth it and are included in the admission price. Check opening times though before visiting on the NTS web site.

Holmwood House
An enchanting house with so much to see the more you look closely in every room, the place has its heart and learning about its story from the days it was owned by nuns makes it the perfect small outting on a wet day, can't wait to go back!
