The Stags Head
Sadly not a fantastic food experience.Goosnargh Duck (“served pink” according to the menu) was sadly rather grey, dry and over cooked. Poor duck gave my jaw a workout. The creamed cabbage side was over salted. The starters were also quite expensive and not amazing. We ordered the “special starter” of the day, thai prawns for 7.95, and were given 4 minuscule and heavily battered prawns with a (to be fair) yummy dressed salad.I tried my friend’s fish pie and that was good, with chunky portions of fish and a cheesy mash top!The sticky toffee pudding was unfortunately a little burnt on top and dry.Perhaps an off day in the kitchen?

Visited on an early Sunday evening at the end of November and booking online. Found Compare the Meercat did 2 for 1... Food was decent and service ok..Both got Sunday lunches, one had turkey other(mine) had turkey, beef and gammon.. With a massive Yorkshire Pudding...Just needed more gravy, that we asked for and got very promptly..Will definitely go again..

A fantastic pub with fantastic food and service! We had an excellent meal last night, the atmosphere was lovely and the staff were extremely friendly. Niamh went out of her way to make our meal just as we liked it. We will definitely be returning!

Whilst visiting my Mum, my Wife and I decided to take her out for lunch and it was decided to visit The Stag's Head. After ordering drinks at the bar, we were kindly shown to a table and provided with menus. Once we'd decided on our starters and Mains, we placed our order and waited patiently whilst catching up.After only a very short time, the starters arrived and set the standard for the rest of the meal. The Black Pudding & Bacon Stack was absolutely delicious. The combination of the black pudding, the crispy bacon and the soft hen's egg was a match made in heaven and was a joy to savour. Only a short time after finishing, the main course arrived. In my case, this was the homemade Lasagne. Whereas lasagne can sometimes be a little sloppy, this one was a triumph. It held together wonderfully, with a perfect ratio of pasta to mince to sauce, coupled with the beautiful cheesy topping. This ensured that every bit of it was eaten instead of worn, as has happened in the past with lasagne from other places. The side salad and soft, succulent garlic bread perfectly complimented the lasagne and made for a delicious main course.Lastly, the puddings were shortly despatched and finished off the meal perfectly. I had the Sticky Toffee Pudding with warm custard. It was heavenly. Just the right amount of gooey, soft, sweet, warm and filling. When asked afterwards how everything was, my only response was Food coma" as I was so full and fulfilled. The service was friendly

The Stags Head
We visited the Stagshead earlier today as a family group of 6 adults, 3 children and a baby. We all had starters and main courses and three of us had deserts. The Stagshead is a quaint old fashioned pub with a large car park. It has a lovely atmosphere and the staff were very good. We were served very efficiently and they were very personable. The food is exceptional!!! Each course was beyond perfect. We dine out quite regularly usually back home in Devon but the Stagshead is probably the best restaurant meal we have ever had. We all would highly recommend the Stagshead and will definitely be coming back again soon when we are up visiting our relatives who live nearby. 5 stars in every department!!

Food is first class,Sunday Roast generous portion. Staff friendly and attentive. Interior is bright with great decor. Music playing in the background easy listening. Outside seating with a good size play area for the kids. Very busy as you would expect because the food never let's you down. Recommended to book a table over weekends a place to definitely re visit
