My last review of St Anthony’s was a 5 star rating, but since Dr Ross left, this once fantastic practice is now profoundly letting itself down.In the last 3/4 months I’ve had 2 blood tests ‘go missing’. I waited over 70 minutes when I went back in to get the test done for a third time, only to be told a month later that the lab they sent it to don’t do those tests anymore. No responsibility was taken by the practice and once again I was left with anxiety and no answers.I came back in to have some more bloods drawn and tested. I received a text 2 days later saying I was fine and no more tests needed to be done. Due to the history of mistakes I rang to double check, only to find out that all the results weren’t even back yet! So in essence I was lied to. Not only is that deeply unethical but it has massively affected my mental health. To be given the all clear, then have that reassurance taken away is cruel.I spoke to the practice manager who apologised but offered no solutions and things have not improved, unfortunately. These constant mistakes (along with other minor ones I won’t add to the already long post) make us, the patients, feel helpless. Some big changes need to be made, communication needs to be vastly improved and things need to be double checked before information is sent out.I am in the healthcare profession myself and if I treated my clients like this, I wouldn’t have any left. Please turn this ship around and get back to delivering the high quality services that you used to provide.

Dr Maria Balfry is an outstanding GP and I cannot emphasise enough how much she has helped me and gone above and beyond in order to access the correct medical treatment I needed. Thank you so much Dr Balfry

At this practice for 5-6 years while I lived in Walker, moved to Heaton in 2021, changed my address at said practice within a week of moving, I was due for my yearly check up, plus due to pick my prescription up, I recieved an email from said practice that I no longer could be at the practice as I was out of the catchment area

This practice used to be good. But since Dr Prem left it has gone down hill drastically, I suffer with rheumatoid arthritis and used to have a yearly review to discuss my condition but haven't had this service at all, since COVID there is minimal to no chance to get an appointment, I used to have my blood monitoring done there but now travel to the Freeman as I'm guaranteed to get it when I need it rather than 2 or 3 weeks late, the reception staff seem reluctant to actually help when you ring that's if they answer at all, my wife tried ringing tonight at 17.05 was number 1 in line for nearly half hour, I refuse to accept that someone was talking for that long, they give gp services a bad name.

I only ever really review food places or shops but I felt compelled to leave a review for here too after reading some negative reviews!I absolutely recommend St. Anthonies Health Centre without a doubt. Every single doctors I've had previously fail in comparison. Their online system makes it easy for people who work to get medical advice and appointments without having to phone a million times, though I've never had any trouble getting them on the phone either, and everyone there from reception to doctors are all very thorough and I have nothing but praise for everyone there. My mam developed terminal cancer and moved in with me in April, hadn't been able to get an appt with her own GP for over 2 weeks to find out anything about her condition or prognosis, her doctors reception team blamed lack of availability on covid, despite her being very poorly and having to attend hospital a couple times because she was extremely unwell yet her health wasn't prioritised. She was in complete darkness about what her condition meant. When she moved in with me, we registered her with St. Anthonies Health Centre and two doctors did a house call same day. Whilst the conversations were difficult, they were very needed a d the doctors answered all of our questions and made sure we felt supported. A couple doctors continued to attend house calls until she passed just 5 days later. Sandra and the reception team worked tirelessly to get new medications prescribed the same day mam moved in with me. She then moved quickly onto drivers/medication to be delivered and managed by a machine and again all sorted our rapidly by St. Anthonies. I dread to think what we would have endured at my mams old doctors. St. Anthonies are truly amazing and go above and beyond - I was also sent information on counselling and mental health support as well as information about specialist bereavement services which were good to have and I hadn't considered my own health up until that point.I also recently went on honeymoon and all my travel documents were in my married name but vaccine passport was in maiden name. Whilst my existing documents were accepted on the way out of the UK, they needed to be changed whilst I was abroad before I travelled back and it gave me so much anxiety thinking I wouldn't be able to return to the UK. I contacted St. ANTHONIES online from Jamaica, and Sandra in the surgery sorted it all out for me within about an hour.I've had a couple issues with my health in recent years, and I previously ignored health issues and tried to treat myself due to issues I've experienced at GP surgeries elsewhere with not only accessing GP appointments, but also issues with appointment themselves (I.e. Whatever I went about, symptoms would always be put down to hormones or weight and dismissed). I've been to St. Anthonies about a couple of issues and seen practice nurse Hellie, and she actually listens to concerns and works with you to take control of your health. She doesn't dismiss or reject things you note about your own body. She listens and helps.I'm going to be moving out of area next year and the biggest thing I'll miss about moving out of Walker is my GP because of their outstanding services. Thank you St. Anthonies Health Centre!

All new staff. Zero faith in any of them. 100% unhelpful.I'm being very unfair. The nurses and receptionists are great. I've yet to 'settle in' with the new Doctors.

This practice is a joke if it comes to the reception desk! They don't want to pass your notes to the doctors if they don't feel like the doctor will want to deal with the problem, they booking you in with the wrong person for example with a nurse instead of a doctor - even when you specifically asked to be seen by the doc, RUDE and very and I mean VERY ARROGANT people. To the reception desk> you are there to book people appointment's or pass the message to the relevant person not to make puff's & fuss!

One of the worse places I've been to since one of the drs left. The reception is a joke. Phone up in pain and they say phone back it two days to see if anything is going to be done. Told not to take paracetamol one week because it can make you worse next week same Dr says why can't you take paracetamol. Complete joke this place it will be moving now . You lot should be in prison because I can guarantee your negligence has lead the the death or serious injury to patients. Reception is a complete and utter joke. They treat medications if it's a joke and something they can mess around with.
