St John The Baptist Church in Myndtown is a small, recently restored medieval church. Myndtown was first mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1085 but parts of the church date to the 12th century, including the font. The church has received money from the Heritage Lottery Fund for restoration. The roof timbers required lots of work, the inside has been repainted and much of the woodwork pews and pulpit look new or restored. There are signs from the main road, but it quickly reduces to a single track road. There is very little in the way of parking or space to turn around. Despite what Google says, the small track between Myndtown and the Asterton-Plowden road is not suitable for motor vehicles.

An obscure place to find a church but it was built in the 12th century. Well worth a visit to this simplistic house of worship and its beautiful surrounding countryside.

Driving home from bishops castle and found the ominous brown sign directing me to this 12th century church. I'm glad I stopped off, small but quaint. The church was unlocked so I had a look around and checked out the headstones. Rather well kept in general!

The mediaeval church St John the Baptist has undergone restoration work thanks to our National Lottery fund. The access road is well sign posted, however the single width road immediately becomes a narrow farm track as it heads into a remote part of South Shropshire. Many of the tombstones are now at an unusual angle suggesting subsidence, this part of the church is well maintained. The church interior is impressive with hard pews, its well worth a quick visit, I noticed several familiar Shropshire surnames engraved on the tombstones.
