I want to thank Davy, the driving instructor from Alan’s driving school.Davy is a fantastic instructor: calm, clear, friendly, professional.His skilled yet laid-back attitude made me feel very relaxed and confident when we were out driving. All of his instructions, teaching and tips were excellent and easy to understand. The pace he taught at was great, and I would definitely recommend Devy to anyone wanting to learn to drive. A huge thanks for all the work he’s put in to helping me pass first time.

1 star as i cant put zero. Bought my girlfriend driving leasons for xmas present and with only 1 lesson under her belt... (no pun) she was shouted and sworn at from driving instructor Peter. Which left her distraught, confidence broken in learning to drive. Very unprofessional instructor. Do not recommend!

Absolutely awful. Do not learn from this man. He was minorly inconvenienced by me putting my son in his car seat, when safely parked at the side of a road, and he hurled abuse at me out of the window, while with a student! Mouthfuls of abuse for as long as it took for them to pass me and some time after. Man has anger issues. Avoid.

My Wife who is a non driver took classes from the Alans School of Motoring and passed the driving test today in her First attempt. Driving instructor Peter is a very good instructor and built confidence in her learning to drive.

Strong 0/10 avoid this company at all costs, just after your money they will try get you to do 2 hour lessons at a time as a standard hour is not satisfactory to teach a person how to drive apparently?!?! The only reason i took the east Lothian instructor was because she was only one available to take me at the time of enquiry & it is clear why she was the only one left. Spent 8 months with her to be told she cant fit me in for lessons & i was to go use another car to sit my test. I done exactly that i got a rental & brought my test forward and passed first time with the help of a family member NOT what i learnt from the instructor i was assigned. When i informed my instructor i had passed the response i got was “congrats but I'm surprised” which says it all.. only after your money!! Avoid these lot!!! If you are looking to start lessons try string it out as long as you can to get a busy, decent instructor because i assure you they will do a better job!!! Be aware this company can just turn around and tell you they cant fit you in anymore and leave you stranded weeks if not days before your test. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

Just passed today with Peter Watts, I was always very nervous and been unsuccessful with two previous driving schools. Peter is the best at what he does! He gave me so much confidence and I passed first time with only one driver fault! Thank you so much! Certainly can’t thank you enough, God Bless you for your patience and dedication to your job!

Fail. Had my test within a week. Instructor told me that he had loads of time and that we can easily train and eventually go for test.Took me for a 2 hrs ride then said that he dont have much time, he won't 'be going for a test with me. I lost test fee because of him. On top of that he told me that I have problems with all three manoeuvres even tho we didn't practice any of them ?Oh yeah one more thing. Instructor kept asking me theory questions which is a bit uncomfortable. I just passed my theory test.. also he kept confusing me. I did something right and he kept asking why did you do that ?! Are you 100% sure that you've done right thing? After 10 mins he says that yes - you did right. At the end of the day I didn't know what's right and what's not.Aren't you suppose to assure me that I do right thing instead of confusing me?Instructors are dull and boring. No enthusiasm whatsoever. Very uncomfortable.We kept going to the left for about 20 mins,Then to the right for 20 mins. I've had a feeling that the test is all about turning left and right haha.People who claim that those are good instructors are either friends with them or just silly people.Instructor told me that he had over 40 exams last year and only 14 passed. Nice way to promote your business. Why didn't you tell me that before I paid you £50 for nothing.If I wanted to go for a car ride id ask my friends. I learned nothing.100% scam. They just want to get more money out of ya. Avoid at all means.Sorry no instructor name as he didn't even introduce himself.

Very unprofessional. Spent 300 pound with William for 10 hours who taught me a very bad approach to driving, and then retired before me completing the driving test. This means that I have to pay again 300 pound for starting over once more with a different car and have to wait another 2 months to take my test. Wasted time and money. I got another driver - Peter, who instead of picking up from where I left off started back from 0.When I brought that up with the driving school, they didn't refund me, or organised a new instructor for free. Frankly, they were unbothered and seemed not to care. Don't waste your time and money.

Driving instructor of Alan's school in Edinburgh Mr. Dougie refused to provide me with a car just a day before my driving test because of his predictions(or thoughts) of my failure. Nasty turn. Alan's school was waste of time and money.

DO NOT use this School. Rip Offs, the first lesson I paid £40 cash to drop another client home. I said maybe it is the first lesson just to see my driving ability. But he did the same the next lesson when I said NO he said we will drop her on the road. Who do you want someone to pay 37 per hour and ask them to drive someone else home or be dropped off 45 minutes away from home?
