The Wilderness
Can't fault the Wilderness. Lovely staff, very welcoming. Slightly nervous from the description but thought they have just the right balance of atmosphere and background music. The wine list is better than can be expected from a relatively small restaurant with some great choices across a range of prices. Food from the tasting menu was some of the best I've sampled in a while with a few absolute stunners combing some exotic flavours superbly. Thanks to all at the restaurant for a great evening.

I just love the place. Great cuisine supported by excellent service. Staff are professional and v friendly. But obviously the food has to be the star of the show and be assured it is. The number and variations of dishes provided doesn't always mean you will love everything presented but that is an opportunity to experience alternative delights that to be honest you wouldn't normally choose. Have attended several times and cant wait for the next time. But you do have to save up to visit. PS I happen to love the music played also so another good reason to go!

Went with colleagues and had the 11 course tasting menu. The food was excellent, as was the service. My glass was never empty, and I had the most delicious carrot I've ever had!

This small restaurant in Birmingham is spectacular. The tasting menu was outstanding with no uninspired dishes. Delightfully prepared and elegantly served with a smile. The background music was not obtrusive, though personally I would have been happy either way, as it was exactly what I liked. Wholly 100% recommend...

Wow!! Outstanding food, superb attentive service, and an awesome atmosphere (with quality rock music playlist that you can find on spotify). With the news this week that carters will be leaving Birmingham, we are delighted to finally get to try this place, that is the heir apparant to it. Already booking our next visit. Expensive, but totally worth it.

One of the best meals I've ever had! I've been fortunate enough to dine at several Michelin star restaurants and the Wilderness is on par for me food-wise with almost anything I've eaten. I love the chef's focus on variety - spectacular vegetable, fish and dessert courses as well as meat dishes. The drinks pairings were spot on, the service faultless and the atmosphere is so cool and relaxed. Great music selection too. My favourite restaurant in Birmingham and beyond.

The Wilderness
Easily one of the best tasting menus I have ever tried. The portions, although small, unlocked flavours I didn’t know existed. Worth the slightly more expensive cost for sure. Extremely friendly and welcoming staff, and the atmosphere is a real vibe. Would highly recommend, particularly for special occasions.

Wonderful experience for me and my husband today. The tasting menu was probably the best I've ever had (and been to a few Michelin rated restaurants). The most attentive staff and relaxed atmosphere. Would highly recommend as long as you like a bit of Rock and Roll in the mix x

We'd booked to go to The Wilderness a while ago but unfortunately COVID came along and ruined our original plans. We finally visited for lunch on Saturday and it's fair to say it was worth the wait.We decided to go for the ten course tasting with a couple of glasses each of the 'hacked' wines. Upon taking our seats we were each given a complimentary glass of Prosecco and water and our meal began. The mix of courses were fantastic; starting with crispy pig cheek with an apricot gel and taking in steak tartare, turbot and mackerel along the way. Highlights were a fantastic beetroot ice-cream served with a rich ajoblanco and a tremendous mushroom and 'bread pudding' dish which was like the best version of mushrooms on toast you could possibly imagine.Service was slick throughout, each course was delicious and the wines were great, particularly the Chardonnay 2.0 and the Vermouth. The meal wasn't the cheapest but the food, service, ambience and music made it all well worthwhile.
